Good value yes. But one side of the comparison is misleading. If you hadn't bought the membership then you wouldn't have gone to all those places.
But the enjoyment you got, plus that which you so kindly shared with your readers, did considerably outweigh the cost, I assume. Certainly made a great series of posts.
And the most "important" use of the Tower today: as a backdrop for politicians to spout in front of TV cameras!
Done it but not as many as you.
Curated??
I like the idea of supporting their work, hence I remained a member for the past 7 years, despite only visiting very occasionally.
A few years ago I accompanied a party of pupils there so got in for free otherwise I would have been more than a bit peeved.

I didn't know the place even existed so was excited about the trip until I got inside. And then had to endure it longer than most as each subset of students went through. The minimal number of items on display was the most disappointing aspect, the model the best.

However, I took solace from the outside where the moat doubled as a dock and showed the reach of the Thames before it was corralled and that was it and I allowed my imagination to run wild.
Oooh so what will 2019 bring - National Trust, Royal Palaces? Looking forward to it whatever it is.
Not that long ago, the tower's moat had water and a decent shoal of large Rainbow Trout cruising around in it. Certainly made it more interesting than it is now.
You should get a free membership DG. I'm sure your blog will have sent a few full-paying visitors their way!
We visited a few years ago and thought it was a hidden gem (excuse the pun). It was actually quiet peaceful inside with just faint rumblings of traffic.

If it helps anyone, you can spend Tesco Clubcard vouchers on EH membership, 50p is worth £1.50.
Bet you're going for a Merlin Annual Pass. Withe enticements such as "A Merlin Annual pass opens the door to 32 magical worlds across the UK, so wherever you live, you're guaranteed to have the ultimate passport to fun!" and "AWESOME starts here!", how can you resist?

I've had both EH and NT membership for years, to support their work and to avoid that moment of doubt when you see the admission price on the day and start wondering if it's worth it, particularly if you've left it a bit late in the day.
Depends on your interests, of course, but among the various memberships I have I would say that the Art Pass is by far and away the most useful. Saves me lots of money with discounts on exhibitions I would have gone to anyway and also encourages me to visit places that I would otherwise not go to.

The other big winner for me is Barbican membership - particularly good for £6 Sunday morning members' screenings of new films, free exhibition entry (including a plus one on some occasions) and discounts on much else.
I've been a member of the NT for about 5 years and EH for about 3. Only in the first year of each did I "get mt money's worth" out of them!

Each year I plan to do more but with many of the NT properties closed over winter the year is suddenly half over before I remember again!

Still, like others have said - it supports their work so I'll continue in membership, and continue to plan to "do better next year!"
