Has the diversion to Putney Bridge affected the 209's position as London's eight shortest bus route?
It's nice you went back to check, and that there have been a few improvements.

Obviously bus drivers have bills to pay, and its not their fault the bridge is closed, but surely the better option was to run the 209 via Lonsdale Road and Castlenau at a slightly reduced frequency, instead of direct via High Street, this would give most passengers the best of both worlds - frequent buses on the south side of the bridge for those who want to walk to/from Hammersmith, and a link to the tube at Putney Bridge for those that don't.
If lucky, the locals won't endure 22 months of repair work as did those of Albert Bridge (Battersea/Chelsea) a few years back
Hammersmth Bridge was closed for 17 months in 1997/98
The 209 is not serving its route beyond Barnes Pond at the moment,as roadworks at the Rocks Lane and Mill Hill Rd,prevent traffic turning left into Mill Hill Rd,& right out of Mill Hill Road.209 is diverting via Station Road.
The work is due to finish in a couple of weeks, when the 209 will be able to serve all stops on Church Road again. At the moment,Church Road is served by the 419 & 533 loops.419 is also running normal line of route to Lonsdale Road / Castlenau then returning to Richmond via Castlenau & Church Road back to normal line of route at Mortlake High Street.
So I think decisive proof that someone that works for Tfl reads your blog!
It’s possible that the various new road signs ar there for legal enforcement.

Waltham Forest had to do a similar exercise with the new bus stand at Whipps Cross and the (bus only) road round Walthamstow Bus Station. One of the two is named after London’s first woman bus driver.

Without the street names, people can’t be fined for misusing them (e.g. driving through them). I don’t understand the logic of it (or agree with our dear money grabbing council), but that was what LBWF said when they introduced the names.
