Go to any bank and ask for a free credit card holder.

And gawd, enough with the trousers - people will think you are some kind of trouser fetishist.

Too late, Debster.

If it's any help, I could let you have a spare "Cross Tram" card holder I picked up at the festival on Sunday. Curiously larger than a normal card holder, it won't be any use on Cross Tram before 2018 at the earliest.

My Oyster card stays in my wallet, so I don't need a separate holder.

I picked up a new Oyster card last weekend (as left the house without mine) and received a very tasteful black wallet with Oyster on the front, reminders to "please reuse your card" and website address/phone number on the back. No adverts! So they are about, perhaps worth checking at different tube stations...

ditto, i got a classic black oyster wallet at notting hill tube a while back

but how did you manage to keep one for five years? I need a new wallet every three months or so!

When I next set eyes on it (ie when I unearth it from some pile somewhere where it is currently hiding from me), you can have my original Oyster wallet if you like.

And when that one is worn out in 2013, let me know and you can have the one that came with Mr BW's card.

luca - DG is the only peson I know who could take a sheet of A4 paper out of his house in the morning, carry it around London in his hand all day, and return to his house with it in pristine condition in the evening. He can also read a book without anyone ever being able to tell. I jest not. Tis a rare gift.

Ah yes, the Streets album. I tried it again yesterday, but had to turn it off after three songs. For me, it's been steadily diminishing returns from Mr Skinner ever since that great first album. Heroes Become Weak?

When I went to the window to ask for a replacement wallet they asked me which one I wanted: a black one or the IKEA one. I asked for both and took them home put them on my hallway table and took a few days to decide which one I would use. I chose the black one. Here it is.

I can confirm Blue Witch's comments about the paper. All true from one who knew him when he was growing up.

I like today's two-column layout, DG. Perfect for viewing with my browser maximised on a widescreen monitor, exactly as I and probably countless others do.

Oh, and I've done some calculations and I think I've solved your equations for the unknown variable "X". I wish you the best of luck in achieving your target weight of "Y".

How long before there's a blog, and a website, and a society (complete with hissy fits, feuds and splits) for Oystercard-wallet collectors?

You should hang out at London Bridge station. They're always handing out free travel card wallets for promotion purposes. I have a collection of them...some are actually quite nice. But like you I still have my original Oystercard wallet, it will kill me inside the day it falls apart .

I was so upset with my new Ikea advertisement that I was willing to pay 99p at Oxfam for one of their branded oystercard holders. Though their branding is very hard to distinguish, it's mostly a rather interesting tatoo-like design. If I'm going to be brandishing advertising, at least let me choose what I want to advertise.

go to the Tate modern, walk up to the main desk and tell them you've lost your members card holder and can you have a new one please. You get a rather cool gold one with 'I am a very special and important person and I demand to be treated as such' written on the front. Ooooh yeah.

Freedom Pass-includes a wallet- can you wait?

I use a dark blue National Rail wallet, with a discreet NR logo on it. You can get one at any NR station.

Know thy audience, DG...

I watched Grange Hill religiously through the 90s through school myself however I can't say that I have the same vivid memory of the characters that people who watched the earlier episodes have.

Maybe that just sums up how less important it was even back then to a weeks viewing.

Do you want a GMPTE Travelcard Holder for novelty's sake?

(I got given a black one when I got my Oyster, but as I don't live in London, it stays in my railcard wallet, which I will always have when in London)

Thanks for all your kind Oyster wallet offers. I'd still prefer something practical with an exterior pocket to something pretty with a shiny design. Looks like I may not be hunting in vain.

There's a man in Camden market who makes Oyster card holders out of old manga comics. Every one is different.

I got a nice leather one on ebay a while ago. No exterior pocket, but two interior ones, one which holds the Oyster Card and one which holds the paper season ticket.

My wallet's always worked with the oyster card being beamed through 1 to 3 banknotes. I'm not a regular however so commuters may find this is unreliable.
