The most misleading headline I’ve seen was (predictably) in the Daily Mail - “Sadiq Khan won't have to pay the ULEZ charge: London mayor's taxpayer-funded luxury 2020 Range Rover is exempt from the £12.50-a-day fee!” er, like any other 2020 car then.
It’s a good day for the planet.
Not like the Mail to mislead!

Also, the reason he has a large fleet of vehicles to protect him is the threat to his life from the far right, who read and agree with--among other papers--guess what, the Daily Mail.
As far as I can work out, in my part of Bexley there are not nearly enough cameras. If I had a non-compliant car I could drive to work, the supermarket and the kids to school without seeing one and possibly getting away with it.
I have a non compliant car and live in Merton. I have t tested the area yet.
I empathise with all those affected by the ULEZ expansion, but it scares me that people don't seem to understand that we're all going to have to embrace/tolerate many more "inconvenient" restrictions soon, to fend off the day where the earth boils and/or burns.
Today I and the fellow members of our school's Guardian-reading tofu-eating wokerati celebrated our joyous victory. Dancing in the rain of Tory tears, we sung praises of 'Happy ULEZ Day!'. We pledged our allegiance to the great empire of ULEZ, and looked forward to its further expansion across the country and the world.
It'll have all blown over by next week, with something else for the public to get apoplectic over.
The ULEZ is about air quality, not global warming.

Hence why a 20 year old Ford Fiesta or Fiat Panda won't pass it, whereas a 5 year old Rolls Royce Phantom will.
I don't own a car (or even drive) and don't live in/around London.

Yet for some reason, GB News still demanded I give them a 10 second vox-pop soundbite.

Hope their train back to London gets cancelled.
It’s got nothing to do with air quality and all to do with raising money for Sadiq’s bankrupt mayoralty shambles.

There are no more restrictions on any polluting vehicle entering London now than there were last week, it’s just that drivers of old/polluting vehicles have to pay to do so.

Note that if signage is unclear or non existent on any journey into the Ulez then you can’t be expected to pay, but you’ll probably have to go to court to argue that, as some have already successfully done for the smaller previous area (that’s if there are cameras on the route and they have not been vandalised, removed or had their lenses sprayed over).
You got the website meltdown right.

The irony that most people in the outer borough knew about ulez, support it and dealt with it...
But hey news chiefs.... grab a minority of disgrunted folk and make a big deal. What ever makes the headlines hey!... Glad for new outlets such as Novara media that cut through the BS
