ERM... regarding that archive html code, the dates pulled up do NOT correspond to the dates put in!
I searched 15th Sept 2007 [why not?!]
becomes...
http://diamondgeezer.blogspot.com/2007_09_15_archive.html
However, the blog entry pulled up is for 14th October, I tried other months, and they all seem to be one digit out, August is not the 8th month, but now the 7th!
Oh well. No biggy, but it does mean that formula doesn't work as should. So by no means fool-proof, or direct. But ho hum!
Love your work DG, your blog quite rightly deserves to be preserved as a national treasure.

OK, agreed, that's a dodgy formula. So I've updated the post with a more complicated URL which should definitely work.

Nice tip about the British Library, that could be a never ending piece of work for them but in many cases worth the effort. I've just submitted my own blog and site to them for consideration...

Wordpress.com is just another free blogging host - where ultimately they have control because you don't pay anything. Don't do it.
Your own domain, hosting, etc.. and blogging software from Wordpress.org however is the way to guarantee that you're in control of your blog forever... Consider it.
