Another one of the tube's great lies to the public. If a Circle is due in first, the display boards at Bayswater and Notting Hill Gate both tell you to wait for a District Line train, if you want Wimbledon, etc...

But I've often got the Circle, changed at High Street Ken, walked over to Platform 3, got the Olympia train out and then changed at Earl's Court.

It's almost as if they don't want you to use it.

Likewise, at HSK up in the ticket concouse area, there is a "Next train..." to Earl's Court. Usually is Platform 1, yes, but three times an houe points to Platform 3 instead.

And of course there's the "secret" Platform 4 at High Street Ken, that almost no one ever notices is there...

Westminster - West Ham. District or Jubilee line

The Jubilee line is slightly quicker

Who ever travels from Olympia to HSK?? Why not take a bus instead of walking? It takes about 3 mins to walk from the bus stop at Olympia to the station entrance anyway. The bus should take less than 10 minutes and as there are at least 4 buses you never have to wait long. There are an additional 2 buses if you are not heading for HSK station directly.

The Olympia shuttle is particularly useless for Overground changes. If you're coming from Willesden Jn in the morning then it's a 15 minute wait, and going back to Willesden Jn you need to wait 15 mins from when the District pulls in to the Overground's arrival. It's all right if you live in South Ken and work in Willesden though!

Geofftech: Why not take the circle to Gloucester Road and change to the next district??? Or if you don't want stairs, go to South Ken and walk across the platform?

Platform 4 is used on weekends when they close the bit of the District shared with the circle...

The shuttle has some use in connecting EC with Olympia (although I doubt it would have ever been introduced had the WLL connection at West Brompton been available first), and indeed it also augments the only part of the Wimbleware service not duplicated by either the Circle or the Wimbledon - City service on the District. But I suspect it really only goes to HSK because turning it round at EC would hold everything else up.

Do we get the W&C line tomorrow?
