I'll be out and about today with grandson visiting (among other places) the boat club slipway next to Island Gardens, the underground city beneath Canary Wharf, the food hall at Westfield and the Sea Monster at Hays Galleria. If you're at a loose end, come and say hi!
Always impressed by diarists - my late teens and 20s are a fuzzy blur.
I enjoy the odd diary post, Letraset and typing, things that set the era.

As for the gym 'excuse', there are many women who are genuinely obsessed with it - and only go to 'their' gym, they usually find the time by going when the rest of us are watching TV, or having that morning lie in - if they have children, then its during the day, then spend the rest of the time walking around in lycra leggings, comparing themselves with other women walking around in lycra leggings.

My favourite sort of DG post.
And comments.
"I stay late, then go home and eat toast".

Listening to the song "Toast" the other day, and I thought 'that's DG'. Though I don't suppose all of the suggested toast-toppings in the song would get DG approval, I feel that for DG there must be a certain 'toast-a-la-DG' that gets to be top of the preference list.
"achievement unlocked"

Is that really a 1978 expression?
Luke Rhinehart - looking forward to you blogging about your day/week/month living by the rule of the dice
Some very evocative reporting. Presumably most people's lives (at least in the developed world) are full of stuff like this, but to the majority of non-diary-keepers (like me) it's all a bit of a blur.
I love posts like this! It almost seems churlish to point out a few typos in 2003: I have *a* blog and 'opposite where the Crossrail station will eventually be'. I'm sure you'd rather it was correct. Keep up the good work!
I, too, was in a multi-school choir that sang in the RAH at about the same time (at school in London Borough of Barnet), but for the life of me I can't remember what it was, where we were all from or what we sang!! But unless it was a regular thing in the 1970s it could well have been the same one!

I love these little glimpses of the Man Behind The Blog.
So, DG, any particular reason you picked April 5 to do this?

dg writes: No. Just that it's today.
I'm with Blue Witch. Sorry about the negative post yesterday.
Excellent stuff. Surely you must at some point have written for a living or at least for a less niche audience than us lot?

Having never been on a blind date and now extremely unlikely ever to, I'm trying to work out if I had a lucky escape or missed out.
(and those nightclubs in 2003 have caused a shift in my perception of DG)
My god. Someone here agrees with me.

*faints*
Are you intending to complete today’s post? Can’t wait to find out what you did exactly five years after April 5th 2013!
I am looking forward so much to your post of 5th April 2023, to discover how you passed your time on 5.04.18. (I just hope I can hold on that long!!)
Hopefully the 5th of April this year brought you a 20 year older and much less troublesome new human into your life! :)

With any luck, the intervening 20 years have made your apparently-preferred sort of dating easier, but based on what I-think-similar mates have said, it's just push the complications somewhere else....
