I seem to recall that when I lived in Paris for a couple of years, the French seemed to have about 5 public holidays during Springtime.

And here in the good ol' US of A they don't even give us a day off for Easter as it is always observed on the Sunday, and that's that! My hubby gets no bank holidays from New Years until Memorial Day at the end of May! *grumbles*

Can I add that some Civil Servants (me included) also get half a day on Maundy Thursday as a privilege day. Most of us take the full day.
