What was the ratio of male contestants wearing untucked, block-colour shirts?
Although its not brain surgery, maintaining cheerfulness and freshness over back to back recordings of a quiz show is a skill, by the final recording of the day, I'd have probably been shouting at the contestants and looking at my watch.
This is a bit of a Pointless post I think.
Accumulator? It's more properly called a decumulator. Except that isn't a real word, so it's not proper to call it that at all. Ah well, that answer is probably pointless too.
It's surprising (well, not really) how often the cast and crew *don't* mesh very well on set, so it's nice to hear an exception to the rule. It probably does go a long way towards explaining the longevity of the programme.
One of my best mistakes was being just a bit too far back in the queue for a show (The Apprentice You're Fired) at ITV's studios... inasmuch as failure to get in for that one gained me a 'priority' booking, in the posh seats, for the next one.
Yes, AA sings too, so I'm guessing the CD was A Year of Songs. (For me, though, he'll always be remembered for the RAF sketches with Ben Miller.)

You certainly beat the red line set by TfL - and I thought you were well on the way to a perfect score - until I got to the 6th para where it says 'We practice.' So close! :)
I've done a few of these with the family at the ITV London Studios, Elstree and Fountain Studios Wembley. Always interesting to see how the mechanics of constructing a TV show operate at such a recording, and the way that the 'talent' interact with the participants and the audience (if at all).
I'm usually unimpressed by the 'famous', but I have to report that based upon my own observations Phillip Schofield may actually be the nicest man on the plant.
Very well done, this was a terrific post indeed :)

I went to Elstree once to a Who wants to a be a millionaire recording, and we had to leave our mobile phones outside in a pouch.
Is this the first pointless post?
I went to see Pointless too! Not your show, but a couple of years ago now. They'd filmed the Christmas show the day before which was odd as it was in May. Celebs must plan their panto well in advance.

I remember the warm up guy being good too. Xander welcomed us and made a joke and Richard just waved.

I used to be a big Pointless fan, but don't watch it so much any more. I applied with a mate in work to be on the show but haven't heard back.

Don't bother with the Pointless app, it's rubbish.
From Richard Osman, a timed breakdown of a regular recording day on Pointless...

TV recordings are fascinating things, but I prefer radio recordings because they are done so much more efficiently (no props to worry about, and retakes involve just reading the line again rather than having to reset the whole set).

The best TV recordings are the ones that are live (e.g. The Last Leg). You only have to hang around a little afterwards for them to film the promos, and it being broadcast live really adds an extra dimension to the atmosphere.
Yay, the first episode I watched being recorded finally aired on BBC1 today.

Presumably the second is on tomorrow.

I didn't spot me, though - the boom camera didn't quite swing down/across far enough.
