Please don't reveal the stations or the Christmas word.
For those like me still needing their morning coffee to hit, read the clue and notice that it is the LAST letters of each station, not the FIRST!
I was flummoxed for longer than I should admit. |
Christmas grocery stockup: Premium tea (possibly Earl Grey or a Christmas blend), good quality coffee (beans or ground).
I'm surprised that newish route 310 is not on the Christmas day list, given the intended customer base (would be quite handy). Also surprised that some of the Superloops are also not running, again given their intended purpose. |

- your parents or the parents-in-law?
* Sadly, neither, because all have passed away. - brandy butter or custard? * As a teetotaller, it has to be custard (and alcohol free pudding!) - real tree or artificial? * Artificial x 2! - say thanks or admit you hate it? * Thanks: with 5 grandchildren, we can't hate it! - hibernate or go party? * Neither: we can't hibernate and, at our age, we don't party! - send cards or WhatsApp? * Some cards and some by e-mail. - sprouts or no sprouts? * Sprouts, but not too many! - heating on or another jumper? * Depends where we are in the house. - charades, Netflix or Xbox? * None! - embrace it or hide away? * Embrace it; with 5 grandchildren, we can't hide! |

Shame I'm out of town. Would have taken advantage of the 430 vintage service.
Ah, is that what the 430 is. I was thinking this was some sort of scurrilous spoof, a search of TfL bus services running on Christmas Day reveals nil. [Is the 111 also a heritage or special service?] Surprisingly the AI search doesn't (yet?) link to this page!
Definitely sprouts, buttered, with chestnuts. Stollen with marzipan instead of dry boring panettone. Neither; white sauce (cornflour, milk, sugar, vanilla) with rum. |
Tinned ham only exists at Christmas.
A Christmas word or a Tube word? |
What is this c-word thing of which you speak?
Very enjoyable puzzle. Was about to ask why the 430 would be running - what makes Roehampton so special - but then checked the link. Makes more sense!
The Christmas 430 has proved so successful that last year and again this year, the service has been upped from every 30 to every 20 minutes.

Cheese footballs taste like vomit.
Yay, it's not often I can do the puzzles!
Neither - we host brandy butter artificial generally thanks hibernate send cards sprouts - best bit! heating none hide away |
Brandy butter and custard!
Sadly, original Meltis New Berry Fruits (with the liquid centres) appear to be discontinued :( |
Tempted to grumble about Christmas treat quality declines as prices increase, but totally diverted by Bedfordshire Archives’ page on the history of Meltis in Bedford. And now a rabbit hole of Mitcham mint. Excellent.
New Berry Fruits are no more? Say it isn’t so! They were the go-to Christmas present from small boys for Granny 55 or so years ago. Sob.
