Why can't I read this? Now you've got me all intrigued as to what it's about!
Censorship!
I should be the one to decide whether or not something's interesting. You can't possibly know for sure I'd find it dull. This isn't fair.
I do not live in the area but I do know it.
No alternatives have been identified. That is quite daft. Send buses via Maypole every 2 hours, or other suitable choice of frequency. Sure it might make the rest of the service slightly less clockface, but peoe will cope.
Interesting and sad - we have an equivalent on the IW where it seems impossible to divert routes two or three times a day to a smaller village - it either has to be the same frequency as the main route or none at all.

Incidentally, I was intrigued as to whether this post would reveal a forgotten concrete bus stop post tucked away somewhere on the Kent fringes.... but no!
Oh DG, if it's about concrete bus stops thankyou for pretecting me from it!
Time saved can be dedicated to increasing time for congested areas without extra expenditure. If as described, it is a disgrace.
A couple of other points, this is now in 'Have your say' section rather than 'Bus route consultations', if you type in 'R7' or 'Chelsfield Village' there it just brings up the old Orpington consultation from 2016, so how are you supposed to know. The execution date is 6th November 2021 - but 'have your say'.

Chelsfield Village has had a service for many years provided by London Country as the 431, then Kentish Bus as the 18 plus journeys on the R5, the modern loop started in November 1992 when the R8 was introduced, replaced by a daily service on the R3 from December 2001, then the R7 in 2017.
I don't live in the area but I'm concerned about TfL' s attitude to it's customers and users.
A downside of your new blocking system is that I still get to read comments I have no interest in.
Very poor by TfL, who have justified central London cuts by saying that they want to improve connections in OUTER London
While I don't know the timetable for route R7, TfL may save a bus from the service reduction. Each bus off the road saves two drivers per traffic day; when enough drivers are 'saved' the number of spare drivers required (to cover for sickness, absence, leave and training) at the garage also reduces. Even if no buses are 'saved', the number of drivers on the roster may reduce from the lesser overall running time. Doesn't matter than no alternatives have been publicly identified - the unpublished one is saving money.
Joel the R7 is already operated by the bare minimum PVR of four buses so your musings are unfounded.
Maypole should get an proper outer Kent service of a return service every Thursday.

This case does make more explicit than usual what a sham "public consultations" and "equality assessments" can be. good for a self-justifying bureaucracy, though.
One reason for the unreliability of the R7 in recent months is the roadworks on A224 near the junctions with Church Road and Warren Road. This hasn't required a diversion to the bus route, but will have caused delays.

I've been stuck twice on A224 southbound and (on the second occasion) didn't realise until too late that I couldn't turn right where I wanted to and was forced to divert via the M25 roundabout. Blame LB Bromley for the lack of signposts, nothing to do with TfL (they tell me).
Probably cheaper to provide a free taxi to the Chelsfield bus stop for every passenger out of the loop.
"Route R7 will be rerouted in Chelsfield Village from Saturday 23 July.

The change will see buses heading towards Chislehurst rerouted via Church Road with Bucks Cross Road, Maypole Road and Hewitts Road no longer served. The three bus stops along these roads will be permanently closed and passengers will need to walk to or from the bus stop at Chelsfield Village Hall instead. Passengers should take care when walking along the country roads in the area."
