Looking forward to this! But if you're going to take in the lighthouse, won't you need to break this rule to tell us about it...

As a fellow Tower Hamlets resident I'm looking forward to this. The borough offers so many gems. Not relevant for this feature but I only recently discovered the secluded 'country' cottages of Mile End Place, which feel like a world away from the frantic Mile End Road. Then there's the doorway on Cleveland Way leading to the beautiful cottages hidden behind the former department store you blogged about a few months ago.

#Anonomous 7.26 am above.
I know anout Mile End Place and have been there but you mention the doorway on Cleveland Way and cottages. I have been searching around on Google maps etc with no luck. Can you or DG point us to the post (or whatever) for this. Cheers! |
'Island Dweller' - DG went on to say 'And finally I reserve the right to break these rules if there's something really interesting nearby I'd otherwise miss'.

Fantastic route.
I was puzzles that TH reached as far as the Olympic Park. I'd never realised that most of Hackney Wick was in Tower Hamlets! |
Oh I'm really looking forward to this! TH is choc a block full of interesting and world famous places, so I know you'll do it justice.

Should be fun! Many years ago I used to work at the old GLC housing office in Commercial Road. We were moving people into new tower blocks on the Isle of Dogs, at a time when Canary Wharf wasn't even a gleam in a developer's eye. I look forward to seeing how much it's all changed, and even more to seeing the bits that have stayed the same.
