Me and dog went along Marshgate Lane today. The southern gate is in place but very open. Lorries still drive through. No sign of 24/7 security. Even if they were to shut the gates they haven't yet blocked off the pavement. I think they have handled the pedestrian diversions very badly. The signposting isn't clear which doesn't help. The diversion route for the Capital Ring is particulary half-hearted. However what is worse is the needless blanket closure of many pedestrian routes when some of them could have been left open for a big longer without causing problems. It is especially frustrating to alight at Pudding Mill Lane DLR and be within sight of the Greenway but be sent on a long-winded diversion before being able to get on it.

End of whinge.

I'm glad you've visited these places, but it's all very depressing! I am almost certain that what they design won't be any better than the (largely) accidental landscape they are demolishing. Wasteland is often the most natural landscape we have, and absorbs all sorts of activities we don't want elsewhere. The destruction of historical routes and structures, nature areas, communities, etc., seems totally opposite to what government says it aims to do.
