You should be top of TfL’s trusted list simply on how often you point out to them the missing bus stop tiles, timetables etc let alone all the other great posts which inform about London’s transport system.

As for the maps. Well, I know the stops are for illustrative use only but are they being totally vague with ‘Bromley station’ or have they not worked out if buses will terminate at Bromley North or South?
Any possibility of a few more bus posts? A bit thin on the ground lately..
“Bromley station”…?
So maps that aren’t that detailed then!!
Joined up thinking not being TfL's strong point, you'll probably find the X269 ends at Bromley North and the X119 starts at Bromley South.
I’m sad about the 521.

The price of everything and the value of nothing indeed.
My local stop is on the 183 between Pinner and Harrow - so the area without the new X183. I'm not thrilled by the frequency reduction from 7.5bph to 10bph, but I am glad to wait an extra 2 minutes for the benefits of many others. Plus I'm sure I'll use and enjoy the new routes from Harrow often.

As for the map they've produced, I think that's the only representation they've made of Harrow's buses since they got rid of the Harrow spider map.

I reckon today's big bus news is that there's a Routemaster on the 16.

Leaves Cricklewood 0930,1200 and 1500
Returns from Victoria at 1038,1308 qnd 1607.
Things move slowly - it’s been at least 12 years since this exact route was mentioned in TfL’s North London sub-regional transport plan!
I've looked at the Standard report. Yes it refers to the imminent changes, but strangely omits any mention of the 16 so is notably incomplete.
The only media that's trusted are the ones that don't criticize and/or bowls underarm questions, as you point out, the news is released the day before services are cut.

Looks like almost everyone correctly guessed the route numbers.
The July 1973 edition of The London Bus informs us that London Transport are proposing to the introduce 'Speedbus', the first 10 routes were as follows.

1/Hackney-Marble Arch-Chelsea-Putney
2/Heathrow-Ealing-Kennington-Holborn-Tower Hill
3/Roehampton-Victoria-Bank-Wood Green-Lower Edmonton
4/Catford-London Bridge-Tottenham-Waltham Cross
5/Muswell Hill-Camden-Peckham-Sydenham
6/Hampstead Heath-Westminster-Streatham-South Croydon
7/Mill Hill-Kilburn-Elephant & Castle-Crystal Palace
8/Paddington-Westminster-New Cross-Thamesmead
9/Lewisham-Peckham-Marble Arch-Aldgate-Becontree Heath
10/Whipps Cross-Dalston-London Bridge
Still Anon: the idea of Crossrail2/Chelney Line as a bus is very amusing to me
my initial impression of the Superloop proposals so far is that they've clearly found a bit of money for graphic design, because it's looking a bit nicer than a lot of recent TfL publicity.
Nice maps with that X183 proposal. As someone who occasionally uses the regular 183, but mainly not on the route of the X183, it'll be interesting to compare the speeds of the 2 routes. If you're on a 183 and can see an X183 behind you, it might be tempting to change.
I second Mikey C's comment, having had experience of the Express 607 route. The speed can't be that exciting or they'd be crowing about it, rather than just saying "quicker journey times by stopping less frequently" if you read one of the FAQs. On a wet and windy night the small time saving doesn't seem worth it if the first bus to turn up is the parallel 207 or 427, or you really wanted one of the stops the 607 doesn't serve.

dg writes: The 607 is fantastic if you're going a long distance off-peak.

The geographic map simply shows Kenton as the nearest stop to Northwick Park station (to change for the Met line), which is fair enough though still a bit of a hike. I wonder if the reference to the Hospital on the publicity map got added by an over-enthusiastic marketing person.

...and out of interest I clicked the "Who's Listening" box near the bottom, then wondered why I'd bothered.
This blog is my trusted media outlet! You mentioned this weeks ago.

As a regular bus user in Harrow, there is no quick way of getting to North Finchley or indeed between the two branches of the Northern Line, so this could be a game changer for many.
I will definitely be off exploring once it's up and running. The X140 has proved its worth and I see the X183 being no different.
Re spankybackpack: I suspect dg is on the other end, due to him often (rightfully) critical to TfL policies.
I suspect Brent Cross Shopping Centre/developers of the housing redevelopment are felling a little left out of the routing.

Leave the 183 serving Hendon railway, but I think the shopping centre could generate more traffic so maybe the X183 should deviate to Shopping centre before going to Hendon Central.
What the X183 does do is link up the tube and rail lines very well. Indeed the routing suggests that was the primary aim.
Patrickov - I don't think they've yet forgiven him for "Dangleway" :-)
X34 map shows 6 stops but North Mid Hospital and Silver Street station are basically next to each other, as are New Southgate station and Arnos Grove.

So in reality its only serving 4 distinct places.
"Lazy".
The Mayor in a nutshell.
I’m curious - how did you know that there was an embargoed press release?
The BBC London lunchtime news featured a lovely long segment reflecting on the longstanding significance of route 16, and nothing on the Superloop.

dg writes: that’s rather later than usual.
The 183 was the bus I rode every day from Harrow to my first job in Kingsbury back in 1983. I would get there a lot quicker now.
The "Find your closest stop" question 2 "Which part of the Superloop do you think you'll spend most time on?" only covers the new routes. If you live in Hillingdon, Hounslow, Richmond, Kingston or Sutton you can't answer.
X183 looks awesome as someone who lives in the area. There is currently no easy connection between Harrow and the branches of the Northern Line. I had initial doubts about the Superloop, but this seems great and very beneficial.
Forget the tube challenge!
The new competition will be the Superloop Challenge, getting from Bexleyheath to Royal Docks (or vice-versa) in the shortest time.
Will it be achievable within a day?!

dg writes: yes
Given how TfL probably know that the Superloop will be designed so some (most) passengers will have to switch to another bus I hope the spider maps return, not only for major points of interest. Or everywhere in London, but maybe that's too much to ask for.
I always find it amusing when sites producing content from press releases and access provided by PRs complain from time to time about being sent press releases.
Particularly press releases that are PDFs so they can't just cut and paste the content.
I would recommend checking out the new electric buses in Sutton and Morden.

dg writes: already have, thanks.
