It's a lovely area to explore on foot, especially on a day with weather like you experienced. I hope your "A Nice Walk" thread will include nice walks in areas across the entire socio-economic spectrum.

Herbof - I'd recommend getting Crossrail to Ealing Broadway and then the 65 bus will take to both Kew and Richmond, which dg previously wrote about.
A most interesting geographical wander around this scenic area... just to get to those last 3 words...HaHa!

The butcher's pork pies are indeed terrific.
A bonus if you do the walk on the first Sunday of the month is that you will coincide with the Kew Village Market. It takes over the streets outside the station.
Interesting. I have saved to this give it a try one day. Used to ride through the area on a commute, but it sometimes whizzes by so quickly on a push bike.
