Hi DG welcome back, I had a "Notification of Works" posted through my door regarding the works on the Greenway, which inform me that a temporary pedestrian screening area is to be constructed just the other side of the bridge from the yellow arches and Pill Box towards the Stadium, works will commence on Monday 11th July and are scheduled to be completed by November 2011, the works will include installing concrete paving, lighting columns and fencing, plus the removal of two trees which we are assured will be replaced post games, they have also stated that if any closure is required then they will try to give at least seven days notice, with regard to the upper deck of the View Tube I have on my last four visits to the area been unable to get up there due to private function's, well done if you managed to get access.

The words “green” and “sustainable” get bandied around a lot, but let’s not fool ourselves. The extra carbon emissions from the manufacture and transport of building materials, and the thousands of miles of travel by participants and spectators, are seriously non-green.

We've got "environmentally friendly vehicle rental" near where I live. No I can't work it out either.

Oh and its wonderful to have a
preview back. Even if it is still a bit buggy its much better than nothing.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn, another cheap pop at Milton Keynes, try spending longer than one day here before taking the easy option next time.

Never mind the infrastructure, when are you going to tell us which tickets you got?

the orbit looks like a wonky teapot.

Yes - the View Tube is great but it is overrun with schoolchildren - of which I totally approve, however, this means that they "block off" (with a rope) the stairs and you can't get on to the viewing platform - even though the kids are in the adjacent classroom.

Fortunately, a member of staff was just going upstairs, and, of course, they let me through, however, it is irksome, and many people will be put off, after all they are up there for one or two hours. And the next group was on its way as I was leaving.

I did have a lovely fry up lunch there and I wasn't in a hurry.

But something must be done for the general public. The present situation is discriminatory and totally pointless - thanks LOCOG.

Ken

"The present situation is discriminatory and totally pointless"

Sums up the whole Olympic system really

Is it so very wrong of me to hope some local enterprising villains come along and nick the yellow anti-pedestrian stuff and the poles for the anti-cyclists signs?
