"It could be worse, I could be blogging all the way to Cleethorpes."

There must be some interest along the line... Give it a go.
I love the castle in Warren Gardens. Great read, thanks.
Why stop at Cleethorpes? The meridian continues into East Yorkshire, although the meridian marker erected in 1999 on the coast at Tunstall succumbed to coastal erosion in 2003.
I know, timbo.
And I'm pretty sure you've been to Peacehaven too. And definitely no need to go there twice (says a former resident of Newhaven).
Yes I have.
I think you are being a bit unfair about the 'jumped up children's playground' at New Gardens Quarter. While all these things come with developer guff (witness the promotional material for the New Stratford Works - just across the way) they are still places where people build and enjoy their lives. I live in Maryland and cut through the New Gardens Quarter most days on my way to walk in the Olympic Park. It is generally busy with families using the swings and slide, playing table tennis or just hanging about. When my kids were small I would have loved having somewhere like that where you could see them playing from your window. In fact one of the success stories of the East Village and co. development is how many kids you see playing on the streets and in the communal areas.
The brochure for New Garden Quarter shows a landscaped central square with a couple of swings and two ping pong tables. The reality is a less-landscaped square with a giant tower slide in the centre.

New residents with children are no doubt delighted. Residents who bought on the basis of the artist's impression may not be.
The meridian at Cleethorpes is crossed by a rather intriguing narrow gauge railway. And several miles south, Louth is a fascinatingly attractive Lincolnshire market town discretely festooned with 0º markers...
Laughing at the rotated paving slab. I've seen annoyingly rotated slabs but none that are so significant.
After four days on the meridian, I trust you feel truly bisected.
“Alas the paving slabs have been relaid at some point and someone accidentally rotated the meridian marker through 90° so it now points east/west and is essentially invalid.” Classic DG. Love it!
The MSG Sphere is disgusting. It’s so close to people’s homes, and there’s no way Stratford Station could cope.
