On-line campaigns make me-too-ism all too easy. It's much less demanding to add a comment to a facebook page or a Twitter stream than to head off on a protest march or to meet your MP. |
Seen with a European eyes, it's like all British people have become Daily Mail readers. |
Funny, my carefully worded, sometimes deliberately humorous comments are often deleted by Big Brother. |
Waterhosue is correct. Only individual communication, at the right level, makes one iota of a difference.
Thing is, people signing online petitions and FB campaigns actually think they're making a difference and being heard. They're not. |
I think there should be more blogs with pictures of kittens. And people who can spell Waterhouse correctly.

I witnessed one of those online persecutions of an acquaintance. It was ugly. People find it so much easier to be vicious at a distance and anonymously. Yes, more kittens!
I used to bother signing the old fashioned petitions and then after a while, you realize that they accomplish very little and there are so many of them. I don't imagine the internet ones are any more useful. |
Watching FB comments and the groups people join has been an excellent method for identifying which of my 'friends' are too self-important, brain dead or plain simple to bother wanting to know. |
