Well done for getting tickets.

Personally, I couldn't be bothered, I'd much rather waste my money on something I'd enjoy and I'll watch it all on TV.

"No. I can't work it out from the total amount of money they've taken"

Well, if you can't work it out, I don't fancy anyone else's chances :)

Mr BW tells me that he heard an interview with Seb Coe in which he said that people *can* give, or sell at no profit, their tickets to friends or relatives, and not have to accompany them to the event as the T&C suggest. MSE Martin also seems to have been saying the same.

In the same feature, they were talking about an official German website (Dertour) where you could buy specific tickets for specific events/dates and apparently the page has its own 'translate into English' button. Obviously not £20 tickets, but it's interesting that other countries can sell their allocations to anyone. Not a lot left now, but if anyone is desperate...

I don't know if I've got tickets or not because I used my credit card, so I can't yet see if any money's gone (I suppose there must be some way to check but I've no idea how). I haven't had an email yet offering me first dibs at the leftovers ... not sure if this means anything or not though. Will just have to wait and see.

"I'll see you down the Park."

Unless you only got tickets for events outside the Park ;)

(Which assumes that you applied for tickets for events outside the Park. Damn, flawed)

Didn't get anything, but I still get some satisfaction from having tried. There were a few grumpy gits at work who said "*grumble* Won't get anything anyhow" and didn't bother.

I still thought we'd at least have got trampolining tickets. :(

We applied for ten different events and got one - fencing. No archery, trampolining, hockey, judo, football, diving, tennis. All reasonably unfashionable early rounds, none of them medal events. The opening and closing ceremonies were just lottery and the view on television could well be better anyway, but worth a go just to have been there. I expect the problem was that we went for a lot of "blue flag" events to get cheaper childens' tickets.

It would be interesting to know how many tickets there were in each category and how many applications, but no doubt this is sensitive commercial information (due to all the competing Olympic events there are each year).

I happened to be chatting with a v senior Olympic official yesterday. Seems like they did try to be fair to general public. If it makes anyone feel better, the London Olympic team don't get any family tickets. Just like Boris, they had to apply in the ballot. And the person I was chatting to had only secured a tiny alloaction compared to what was applied for, so was as disappointed to as many others.

As DG says, it was a lottery.

(But don't get me started on those tickets reserved for Govt/Councils - which apparently is happening because it is an Olympic Organising Committee stipulation)

Reportedly 55% of all applicants got nothing and of those who did win tickets, they typically received 5-1)5 of what they applied for.

Way to make us love hosting the Games. How much is this costing us?

Forgot to say thanks!
Well done DG.
We got more than I wanted but fewer than my partner wanted. Not particularly distressed about missing out on Beach Volleyball ;-) I'd better brush up on my handball knowledge though...
