I had never heard of Barbapapa before. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
It occurs to me that Roman numerals are essentially analog.
Rather than piece it out in your head letter by letter, you can scan along from left to right and get a feel for the size, which you can then compare with another one, without putting it into an exact quantity.
I was well aware of the Barbapapa books, but had no idea that there were also TV programmes. Nor that he was named after candyfloss. So thanks to the wonderful team comprising DG and Wikipedia, I am now better informed on such matters.
Thought I'd somehow overlooked an interesting show called "The Adventures of Parsley, Abbott and Costello" until I realised it was two separate programmes, both of which I enjoyed in my youth.
I have no memory of Bardapapa despite it being "my" era, but then I don't remember "Noah and Nelly" either! Looking it up, it was done by the same guy who did Roobarb and Henry's Cat, but was less repeated hence it has been largely forgotten
When I saw "the last 10 step-free stations", my first thought was how wonderful that there were only 10 left to upgrade.

Then I read it again, and was somewhat disappointed.
Bring back Morph
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could have five minutes of Roobarb or Ludwig back before the 6pm news. Get things preceded by a little sanity.
Pedantic note: the City of London is not a 'London borough'

dg writes: Technically no, but this blog always pretends it is, for reasons of simplicity and under-pedantry.
They still make brand new Morph, but it's not on the BBC---it's now on Sky Arts I think, from memory.
I was surprised to see Captain Pugwash listed as late as 1974, but it seems earlier series (going back to 1957) were not shown in the 5:45 slot
