This, less familiar. And looks /splendid/ ...

Glad you enjoyed your Warwickshire adventures - sadly K.Castle is only open weekends in the winter (except for half terms), and car parking is relatively limited, so get there fairly early as it's very popular. I love having a castle on our doorstep that kids can really explore without any animatronics in sight!

you have terrific stamina... Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, and also Kenilworth all in one day trip from London
|
This brings back happy memories of my student days at Warwick.
The graffiti in the soft stone of the castle goes back to the 19th Century if not earlier, but I suppose it is discouraged now. The highlight of the week was often a trip to the Virgins & Castle for a few beers but it looks like it is part of a chain now so may have lost its charm. |
Less is more, as Kenilworth has shown, compared to it's noisier neighbour!

@Caz: Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth town centres are all within about 15 minutes by bus of each other. Warwick and Leamington are contiguous and there's only about a mile of open fields (mostly floodable by the Avon) keeping Kenilworth from merging into the mix.
The edges of Kenilworth and Coventry are even closer, less than half a mile separating the last houses, and it's through this gap that HS2's going to be threaded. |
@dg: Kenilworth does have a Costa Coffee, and I can attest it's been there since at least 2007. In your clock tower photo it's about 100m behind you.
