11 I'm surprised and disappointed that 4 year old you had not kept and written up a photo of the event to keep for prosperity and to be able to pull out knowingly 54 years later when your party invite arrived!
21. Much of Electric Boulevard has been open for a while, at least since October 2022 when I visited and took a photo of it.

4) Is that the original one that would be nearly 28 now?
Or 18 even.
Good to see a post from Blue Witch.
8) I live in Huddersfield and it's probably the most dismal, awful town out there. If you do pay the HD postcode a visit then you'd be better off visiting Holmfirth, and the best part is there's a bus there from Wakefield so you don't even have to set foot in Huddersfield.
17) As a local resident it’s noticeable how much better dressed the crowd is for women’s games - even the blokes!
8. With the election less than a year away, ticking off unvisited consistuencies may give you more topical visiting ideas. (MapChart, More maps...)
8. Huddersfield can't be all bad. Both Harold Wilson and my father were born there, not many years apart.
3) I've refused to download BBC Sounds ever since they delayed the release of the weekly Comedy podcast by a month onto Apple Podcast feeds. At this stage it feels this is mainly cutting off my nose to spite my face, but I'll be damned if I give in now.

19) Thanks for hyperlinking Tanya, Clive trumps her in celeb-spot bingo for me

20) Tempted to take that to a printers and get a nice framed copy, though as a pedant it's very much branded - just by TfL!
2 - the slow death of spontaneity.

6 - in an emergency there's always the on screen keyboard (assuming you haven't lost the mouse too).
21. Are the buildings in your photo really that wonky or is it my AMD playing up again? 👀
27) I've been passed by 2 bumble bees in the past 2 days.
8) :D
23) The link is broken for me
26) Wow that's absolutely wonderful, I'm going to waste some time exploring this.
23. Sorry, TfL delete their bus change maps a fortnight after the change is introduced.
25. My Best Beloved is a volunteer at the archives and helped prepare the exhibition. My favourite story is of the "Carry On" actor Peter Butterworth, who was one of the inmates involved in the "Wooden Horse" escape, but failed an audition for the film of it!
12: I'm surprised you haven't seen a GT yet. You'd think it would be popular with the boy and girl racers.
17) I had a similar experience at Finsbury Park station, until I realised that the women's team were hosting Spurs.

19) Clive for me too.

20) Thanks.
8. The number of postal districts within the HD area seemed rather small, at 9, when I looked it up. It turned out there are five postal areas with this number of districts, and two with eight. Three have seven, including neighbouring HX. HG with 5 and ZE with 3 complete the picture.

In other words, Huddersfield and Harrogate could easily merged, thus saving you a journey. HX is certainly the more worth visiting of the two!
(Fri) 09 - price of a litre of unsweetened soya milk has leapt, in both Sainsbury (allegedly matching Aldi's price) and Lidl, from 59p to 69p. Given all were recently charging just 50p / litre, that's a 70% rise in under a month.

dg writes: 38%

Given further that each has one or more of different suppliers, different volumes of product, different timescales, what makes you think these swine (other descriptions are available) are just copying each other to milk us?
4) I want to cut the waist high, 8cm thick trunk of my rose bush back to the ground, but I fear that might be too severe, so I haven't had the guts - or a saw to do it!

27) the insects are definitely emerging too, but have yet to spot the first butterfly of the year.
2. With smaller NT properties there is always a risk that they will get overcrowded and ask intending visitors to come back another time. Booking in advance (even at short notice) should mean the load can be spread to avoid turning people away and you'll know before you travel if it's too full. I'd guess if you happen to be wandering past and decide to visit spontaneously you'd be as likely to get in as you were previously.
Another advantage of booking is that if on a bleak March afternoon no-one has expressed any interest in visiting then the volunteers can close up early and head home.
4) Your dad is right. Keep the faith
14) - Dangleway4eVer?
12) Interested to know if you're looking for these pairs of letters (and finding them?) on motorbikes as well as cars.

dg writes: all vehicles.
Thanks for no.3.

I'll listen to Motorway City on the way home sitting in the A3/M25 roadworks.

Imagine a dinner party with Sir Les and Dame Edna as Guests!
9: As I believe you do your main shop at Tesco be aware that two 6 packs of mini cheddars will currently set you back £2.70 with Clubcard. A 12 pack is £3. Other supermarkets also often sell the 6 packs for less than half the cost of 12 packs. Our taste testing has deemed the Red Leicester version tastes more cheesy!

dg writes: The 12-pack was £2.25 with a Clubcard last week - I stocked up.
17) - As good as it is to see packed stands for the women's game, I wonder what the likes of Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic and Dagenham and Redbridge think about the big teams taking more fans looking for a cheap(er) football game to watch.
17. Leyton Orient host the majority of Spurs Women's games - so I assume they are happy enough with it!
8) Huddersfield is worth a stop off to visit the railway station, a very nice building with decent pubs either end of it, and the Harold Wilson statue outside it.
2. I was at Rainham Hall last weekend, without having pre-booked, and they were happy to let me in. I can understand why they might like people booking in the summer months when it gets busy though. For anyone who's not been, highly recommended.
9. US shrinkflation is also alive and kicking (one in the pocket). Opening regular sized boxes of crackers or cereals and finding them only half filled is a common occurrence these days. Found that when I started to reorder my usual large boxes of PG Tips recently, the price had more than doubled from just six months ago.

25. Thanks for the info. I'll be coming over the Pond in April. Looks to be an interesting exhibit.
Days which have not inspired comment:
1 5 7 16 18 24 29

(but the vast majority have, cheers!)

8. HD postcode - echoing Mikey C above, Huddersfield Railway Station is well worth a visit - one of only nine Grade 1 listed railway stations. Well worth also taking the short train trip to Marsden and wonder up the canal to the Standedge Tunnels. Beautiful area and masses of canal and rail history.
