Thanks for the Trobridge - not a whisper in the architectural press.

Highfort Court almost looks like something Gaudi might have come up with.

That's in my parents neck of the woods. I've emailed them, thanks.

Excellent article DG. I used to live just down the road from the castles and thatched cottages. They were always a talking point when we had visitors. The castles feature on the Madness video "Our House".
There used to be two Trowbridge thatched cottages on the corner of Hay Lane/Stag Lane, but sadly they burnt down on Guy Fawkes night in 1964.
The two thatched houses in Stag Lane are currently up for sale. Don't even ask the price...
A place I don't think you mentioned is Roe Green village, which is just down the road from Buck Lane. This is a lovely conservation village which was built in the First World War for the workers at the nearby aircraft works in the Edgware Road. Definitely worth a visit.
Stag Lane itself used to have a small aerodrome in the 20's before the onset of surburbia. Amy Johnson learnt to fly there. At the top of Stag Lane are some flats called Amy Johnson Court and next to them is Mollison Way, named after Jim Mollison, Amy Johnson's husband.
Another bit of trivia...In the film "The Dirty Dozen" there is a scene where Lee Marvin and Donald Sutherland inspect the troops at the front of an aerodrome. That is Hendon Aerodrome which is only about a mile from Kingsbury. The exact position is the roundabout at the top of Colindale Avenue where it meets Aerodrome Road.
