DG's first "The Count" since Jerry Nelson - the voice of "Count von Count" - sadly passed away last year.

Will we ever get a clue as to the nature of the Mystery count?
With your new iPhone, it will be even easier to keep track of the stats:

Why the big drop in blog comments from Feb 2011 to Feb 2012? Was there a very controversial post in Feb 2011?
@Jim - I'm sure that DG discussed the drop in comments at the time but can't remember exactly when to find the link. Anyway I'm expecting some spurious doughnut and kitten related posts this year to get the comments count up.
@ Adam - reading the reviews for the Daytum app, DG may be better off with a pencil and paper!
On 28th Feb 2012 DG commented:

Count 2 (Blog comments): By blogging about comments mid-month I've probably invalidated the statistics here, sorry. But, even with that artificial blip, comment numbers are still well down on the Golden Age of 2006-2008. This blog now merits only one comment per 100 visitors, rather than the one comment per 13 it used to get. All that earlier noise has seemingly diverted to Twitter, Facebook or whatever community you lot spend all your time chattering in these days. But at least what comment remains is intelligent, relevant, insightful and (mostly) kitten-free. I'm delighted, obviously.
Total number of comments on this webpage in February 2012: 440
(2003: 166) (2004: 332) (2005: 463) (2006: 648) (2007: 566) (2008: 504) (2009: 472) (2010: 396) (2011: 558)

Comment numbers are often quite volatile. But the total number of comments for the first 28 days of last month was 439, almost exactly the same as February 2012.
I feel I should add a comment now to get the numbers up even though I have nothing much to say. I can do kittens though...

All comments added solely to increase the number of comments will be deleted. Including this one.
Someone did ask if the Mystery Count would have been zero last month.
The mystery count is the only one I'm really intrested in. It isn't the fact that it has been 0 for the past ten years that bothers me, it's not knowing what it is counting that is driving me crazy.
If you started a decade ago you surely had a decade's worth (ie 10 sets of data) by the end of Feb 2012? (Not that anyone calls me pedantic or anything.)
I'm worried about you - it's 10am on the first day and it says you've already had 2 Becks (and 3 cups of tea).
The mouseover text says the 2 Becks and 3 cups of tea was by 2pm on 1 February 2009. Click through and you get 133 teas and 14 Becks, and it says "over 3 years ago" but those are the same total at http://daytum.com/dgeezer but 11 months ago.
@ Brian Stapleton:

Quote: 'For the next 24 hours it'll be displaying last February's totals, but then I'll set everything back to zero'
One suspects that the mystery count would be the number of times he has put his foot on a crack in the pavement?
I have a suspicion as to what the mystery count is, but I'm not saying.
I'll stick with my theory of it being days off work sick, until proven otherwise!
Yay! I love The Count! Another whole month of anticipation!
Didn't someone mention clockwork bees? What happened to those?
Wasn't the mystery count 'almost 0.3' the other year?
I reckon the mystery count is the number of times someone correctly guesses what the mystery count is.
Mystery count is number of pushchairs DG has assisted carrying?
Does the mystery DG count the blogging in Work, Rest or Play? Or Travel?
