Last went there in 1973 with my Dad. At that age (9) it was a truly wondrous place.

Despite it being located in the borough where I live, I have only been once.
In the 70s.
With the Cubs...

I went to the RAF Museum many times when I was a lad in the early 90s, both with my Dad and with the Cubs, and I distinctly remember being mesmerised by all the planes they had on display, in particular the Spitfires and Messerschmitts.

I may have to take some time to visit the place again. After all, I probably haven't been there now for the best part of 15 years.

There were at least two cub packs present yesterday, swarming around the planes and crossing the car park in neat crocodiles.

But I'm sure that, back in my day, Akela never used to have a red mohican.

Most opportune, thank you as I am in the middle of getting links together for when I publish my late father's diary of his Boy's Own / Cub Scout type adventure - or, at least, that's how it reads - to northern France during WWII with the RAF.

I used to go to there quite a lot in the late 80s, when I was a Nanny. It was always a top day out that the boys never tired of!

Given that it's now £16 for an adult to get into Duxford, this sounds like a truly Value day out.

My son informs me that the creepy talking head woman who has been hanging out her washing next to the bomb site for the last 20-odd years has vanished. He seems quite upset. I suppose she's been an unchanging feature of his life...
