Oh DG come home!
London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out, and draw another breath

I remember the Who exhibition at Longleat - went there in the early half of the 80s - so I'm a little sad to hear that a lot of it was lost in a fire. My father tells me the story of ringing to ask when it was open and getting the 6th Marquis of Bath on the other end of the phone...

heres the 2nd part of the Duckie teams visit to Blackpool including their thoughts on the Doctor Who exhibition. Hilarious.

DG, are you responsible for the crash on the Big One?

yes we need to know http://www.dailymail.co.uk

Sorry to hear the Dr.Who exhibition was a let down, when I visited (1985?) it was the highlight of my day in Blackpool and I still have a rather nice poster (Tom Baker in the style of Lautrec) as a souvenir on the kitchen wall.

In those days there was a Dalek warning humans to desist from smoking as they entered (or else they'd be exterminated, obviously).....ah well.

"August on diamond geezer is local history month"

So, we've had rants about tea, online newspapers and Blackpool. I love local history - its so all-encompassing.

dg writes: Before you moan again, go back and read July 31st more carefully.

Fascinating. It does seem strange though - peak tourist season up North now seems to be April or October rather than August.

I assume many people are still heading off to the Mediterranean despite the now-dodgy Euro exchange rate?

The problem with the Dr Who exhibition is that it's now split up between several locations. You'll need to go to Land's End (amongst others) to see the rest.

The trouble with these posts is that there are no pictures of Edward or dave's bus. And I know you saw them, so there.

yes where is Edward and where is Dave's bus? Is it still on its way back from London after taking you home DG?

I remember visiting the Dr Who exhibition in Blackpool (can't remember exactly when - v. late 70s or early 80s I think). It wasn't that great then, but I seem to recall getting very overexcited at seeing K9, which made the trip worthwhile.

Best Blackpool pics, take a look...

i love those wax figures, they look so real

Bessie wasn't the flying car, it was the Whomobile (reg WHV 1 or similar?). Either way it broke BBC canon by using the word "Who" within the Doctor series.

I don;t think it was actually referred to as the 'Whomobile' in the series itself, only in associated publicity.

Hmmm, shorely shome mishtake???

What you've typed is "Louis Tussaud's Waxworks" but it appears the name you were actually looking for was Louis Theroux...
