Pie and peas IN ONE PIE. Genius.
Where Leeds leads, Sutton is not far behind.

Venues unavailable for 'The Joys Of Sutton' (18th Jan) include The Secombe Theatre (closed 2016), The Charles Cryer Theatre (closed 2016) and the Wallington Public Hall (closed 2013).

January is, in my opinion, best spent at home with sufficient food supply and a selection of good books.
That's settled it, I will definitely be at New Addington tram stop at 1pm on Feb 25th!
Reminds me of visits to closed attractions. After being to Tate Modern to see the new Engine Room we walked to the Hepworth Gallery, but that was closed for refurbishment. While in Margate we went to the Turner Gallery, but that was closed while they rearranged the exhibits. Note to self - check on-line before going anywhere.
The reason for the "even better deal" train fare is only too evident isn't it!
Normally I'm half way through reading a post before I begin to get suspicious that the irony flag might be waving, but on the 3rd January I was confident it was flapping strongly in the breeze of our combined laughter.

Except this time, it seems it was real!!
The main lesson I took from this post, is check on line, BEFORE you visit a location.
I second the poster who said January best inside with good books.
I'm visiting Leeds on 28th, courtesy of the earlier Virgin ticket offer. I now feel somewhat underwhelmed at the attractions on offer; did you not visit The Royal Armouries Museum..?
Leeds Castle was open (except the Yellow Drawing room) - but it's a long walk from Leeds station............

I am somewhat disappointed that there isn't a big sign at the top of that page saying "We're in KENT!"
Kirk - do you see any large signs at the top of web pages of other Leeds attractions saying "We're in YORKSHIRE!" ??
Ooh, that made me right nostalgic for my very first Yorkshire pork pie, 28 years ago when I first went to Leeds with my husband to be to meet the potential in-laws. They thought I was a bit posh (I'm from Stevenage!!!)
Loved it, very droll. At least January is 1) half way through winter and 2) has lengthening afternoons. November is far worse: shortening days, soggy leaves everywhere and basically dank and dreary so are tickets North even cheaper then? DG, we need a lesson on how to get all these cheap trips in an optimal way. PLEASE!
Sad to report that Crawshaw's has now disappeared, and with it seemingly the Leeds pie. Plenty of pies but no pea-topped efforts in Kirkgate anymore.
Alas, Crawshaws went into administration a year ago.
I come to Leeds around 5 or 6 times a year and have been meaning to seek out a Leeds pie since 2017. Sad to learn that I'm a year late. Must find a recipe...
