I seem to be suffering from indifference.
Thanks, Still Anon. It's obviously infectious as now I seem to have caught a bad case too. Not that I won't be dropping down to a few spots sometime in the season...
This kind of cluckbait thinking is exactly why local news websites like the Manchester Evening News are full of such local stories as "What happened on Good Morning Britain", and "What Philip Scofield said on This Morning."
But when did they announce the date that they were going to announce the date?
I fear an Indifference pandemic spreading among DGs readers!

"same lights as last year" - and the year before that, and the year before that, and .... meh, I remember seeing those angels in at least 2017.

Excellent links, by the way.
It's not indifference.

If it were indifference, you wouldn't bother commenting. No, not indifference. Definitely not that.

It's cynicism. That's what it is.

Cynicism will eat into your lonely soul until you are indifferent to absolutely everything. Until you can withstand all nonsense yet not stand it any longer.
...talking of Christmas lights ...i recall from a few years back passing by a shop front in Oxford Street (the less "upscale" end) early morning on Christmas Day ...with a person sleeping rough in a tent ...adorned with a simple battery powered set of lights. some people had left a couple of warped gifts outside and some food. it was a stark reminder, if one was needed, of how Christmas may not be so joyful & merry for all.
Here in Balham (Gateway to the South) we have Christmas lights all the year round, switching on and off with that predictable regularity that brings the comfort of a certain certainty to an uncertain world.

Green, amber, red, red-and-amber, green ...

(with apologies to P Sellers RIP)
I'm far more looking forward to the Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival 16-25th January 2020 - was fabulous this year.
The date for the switch on of the Canary Wharf winter lights was announced on Friday 10th October, and excitedly rebroadcast across a variety of media.
Don't forget Chrisp Street Market, the lights get switched on on 30th November. I think it was announced last week.
The spelling mistake "evxtravaganza" got all the way through to midnight without being spotted and pointed out.
Having quite recently scorned those who offer content or spelling corrections, and more recently those who have the temerity to ask questions (rhetorical or otherwise) you now appear to critiquing the readership for failing to point out an obvious spelling error. Very strange indeed.
apologies, please dock my pay by the usual amount.

Did you mean "to be critiquing"?
Alan - you have breached the 'no questions etiquette - bad boy!
But I did indeed mean that. It was early.
The date that the date was announced for the switch-on of the Oxford Street Christmas lights was of course 29th October.

The Oxford Street Christmas lights will be switched on on 21st November (which is unusually late).
