Sunday opening of the With Love exhibition at the National Archives, 5 April. (not a pre-book as such, but only day I could have made it.)
Commissioned to write a choral piece about the municipal streams for the reopening on 3 April of the town hall in Hengelo in the eastern Netherlands. Piece completed, but corona killed the poet and the show.
I won't be adding some lawn seed to my lawn on 5th April, as my diary has logged. The shop selling the lawn seed will be closed. I could order it online. But this seems a little excessive. I look forward to seeing if my lawn really needs the lawn seed this summer.

14th. Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower.
April 1st appointment at the hairdresser for a cut and blow-dry. What will I look like when we emerge from isolation?
April 25th. A party for a 65 year old. The invitation asks us to come dressed in animal prints. I shall suggest to the hostess that we dress up and meet on Zoom on the evening.
2nd April Chairing a conference in Southsea for young bus managers from all around the country to motivate and inspire them.

April 1st - Departing from Wuhan for tour of Lushan and Jingdezhen.
Radio Times Hall of Fame Gala Finale with Gilian Anderson at the BFI 19th April.
A 300 mile round trip on 21st April to the Tutankhamun exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. This would have been the very last opportunity before the items in the exhibition return to Egypt permanently.
28th - Taking my husband out for a birthday lunch.
Saturday 18 April. Attleborough and District Gardening Club Spring Show. My carefully grown daffodils will not get put on show.

8-15 April. Trip to Strasbourg (and Europapark).

26 April - My son was to be playing percussion for the debut concert of the disabled-led National Open Youth Orchestra in Bristol (and then on 9 May at Milton Court, Barbican). They been preparing for a year.

7 th April. Talk & Tour of the Clocks at the Science Musuem. Done by very enthusiastic, well informed volunteers.
I was supposed to be in Scotland this weekend, resuming my coastal walk for 2020. That got cancelled of course. I was due to be going again on 25th April but that too has been cancelled.

Sadly I couln't get a refund for the first trip either because the fights are apparantly still running even though I cannot legally go on them. So I have to have a voucher but no idea when I can book again because it's impossible to plan anything.
Sleep Clinic Appointment on the 17th at 9am. This is now by phone call and is likely to be completely pointless.
Saturday 11th April: Easter visit to the parents and running the Barnsley Boundary Relay leg around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Saturday 18th April: Birthday Treat - taking the full length of the 29 Bus Route from Wood Green to Trafalgar Square, thereafter to the Real Ale Train at the Epping Ongar Railway.
4th My first AGM in 41 years for the Ducati owners club at the National Motorcycle museum.
2nd April, walk and pub crawl on Southminster branch to celebrate 3 birthdays on the wrong side of 60, Prince of Wales at Stow Maries will not see us for lunch........
29th. Overnight stop at Soest on the way to visit friends near Leipzig.
25th April - Chartered a boat for a cruise on the River Exe for family and friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. 33 people booked and most were due to stay overnight in hotels in Exmouth afterwards.
13th - singing evensong at Canterbury cathedral

19th - special train on preserved railway to mark brother-in-law's retirement as driver

24 April, I turn 50, that obviously is still happening, but the traditional posh dinner to celebrate won't be.
My birthday is on the 7th, and it's quite a major one (21). I'm therefore postponing it (and all associated celebrations) to next year, and having my much more low key 22nd this year instead.

3 April - fly to Berlin before joining a river cruise on the Elbe, ending up in Prague before flying home. I shall take a leaf out of DG's book and do the trip virtually, I think.

18th - annual reunion with 15x school friends, 41/43 years after we left education.

16th April - Going away to a mystery location with my wife to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We do this every year and take turns to pick the location, and it's my wife's turn this year. Will be the first time we miss it!
17 April - fly to Vancouver on the upper deck of a 747 for the first (and last?) time to spend a few days before catching The Canadian train for 4 nights overland travel to Toronto. See Niagara and head to Montreal for return on 29 April.
3rd-5th: weekend in Plymouth
1st April @ 3pm a Job Interview.

They hope to reschedule after the lockdown. Hm.

27-28th. Royal Society meeting on "Confronting radical uncertainty"

In this meeting we will focus on “real life” decision-making in Government, Business and the Third Sector–decisions such as those about climate mitigation and preserving our environment; policy priorities in health and education; new product, organizational and regulatory innovation; when and how to intervene in humanitarian or other crises overseas; how to maintain cyber and other forms of security; what macroeconomic policies to use to maximise the wellbeing of citizens; how to minimize social and mental discontent; etc.
10th - Day trip down to Margate for the annual Easter Beer Festival.

23rd - First motorcycle w/e trip of the year to a Harley Davidson rally, camping in Wales, come rain or shine.
Not taking part in the Easter historical re-enactments at Kentwell Hall in Suffolk.

May events looking unlikely too but not officially cancelled yet, and a number of valuable attendees will be shielding for most/all of this years potential events.

Also not attending Pesach Seder with extended family in a hired hall in Hampstead, may have to cook Pesach foods for myself for first time for a seder by videoconferencing. Houseparty VC service doesn't seem appropriate, other options also not ideal for various reasons.

Every Tuesday in April was booked to tutor an Expert Patient Course for the NHS. Now postponed, but may take place in due course via Zoom.
Normally, on the last Monday of the month, I go to a pinball tournament in Birmingham. Instead, it seems I'll have to make do with a simulated table or two at home now.

My friend Tony's funeral in Brighton on April 7th as its close family only, sadly 50 years of close friendship means nothing in these times.
on Sat 11th i was to join several old friends who i rarely meet now for an Easter lunch hosted by the one with whom i shared a flat 50 years ago in those first heady years of living in town.
My brother's wedding on his 59th birthday on Saturday 25th. Fingers crossed for the 24th of October now.
Monday 20th: No RCTS Croydon meeting on the Work of the RAIB. Trust they won't have anything urgent to do in place of giving us their presentation.

Thursday 30th:No LCGB Croydon meeting on the Bricklayers Arms Branch.

I won't be having leaving drinks after my last day of work on 6 April – not least because the closure of my office has meant I've effectively been on gardening leave since 18 March.

21st April moving back to the UK permanently after 15 years in NZ. Unfortunately I sent a container with almost all my possessions in advance, sold my house etc. So now, nowhere to live, no winter clothes, no furniture.
