Just think. This could be the high point.

Sorry DG, one of those (rare) times I click none of your links. Big Brother generates the same enthusiasm for me. In fact, why not market test the 2012 brand on the Big Brother inmates? Hang on.... why not take it to the logical conclusion and BRAND all of the inmates with 2012 on their buttocks? That'd be a new twist. All you'd need would be two numbers, the 1 and the 2.

Mind-bogglingly tone-deaf.

And shucks, I left branding to teach English as a Second Language.

Past progressive has never been so rewarding.

Try drinking NESCAFÉ XPRESS - everything will become so much more synergistic.

Brand values: I'm thinking "Late", and "That stadium's not as pretty as Beijing's".

But talking about synergy and brand values and Olympic spirit is just so much less messy than kicking people off allotments and paving over chunks of Hackney football fields.

DTL beat me to it.

Ever wondered why the Olympics will be over budget? It's the enormous salaries the PR companies, marketeers and creatives are taking from the pot. The Olympics has almost nothing to do with sport now. Sport is only the legitimising advertising vehicle.

One of the blokes who works for the PR company organising this pre-launch campaign has his own blog, where he's "accidentally" revealed the two remaining brand values that London 2012 haven't announced yet.

"The idea is that by following a series of four clues made available on the London 2012 homepage over four days people are directed to websites where they can get a glimpse of a short film clip based around the four Olympic themes: passion; inspiration; participation and stimulation."

Well done Mr Collister.

If it's also so awful why waste all those words and links on it. Aren't the games allowed to have a brand and a declared purpose rather than just being an echochamber for misery of the cynical?

As Catherine Tate's Grandmother character would say "What a lot of Sh*t".

Is all this knobber branding the reason why the budget has trebbled?

Look at the Windies Cricket World Cup. The reason it was such a flop is because the marketing knobbers took all the local culture and feel out of the game. It may as well have taken place in Huddersfield, such was the bland nature of the competition.

We don't need marketing knobbers to 'construct' a London theme.

It's all about London and sport, innit?

My enthusiasm for the Olympics has slowly diminished from Oh that's good we have the Olympics back in 2005, to I'm not really that bothers, a year later, at the moment it's annoyance at the fact that they are taking money away from other areas - the Arts Council for example, at this rate by 2012 my mood will be pure hostility.

Then again as a gay boy, who never understood sport at school, it may be a revertal to my natural state

banged to rights. here's one we did earlier http://www.flickr.com/photos/balf/527878719

Now it has been unveiled the hype was certainly better than the real thing. It is truly awful - more like a Tango advert.

Love the comment on the BBC site, that it looks like "a woman with big hair and earrings on her knees, pleasuring a man wearing a London t-shirt".

not exactly worth the wait.

am I the only one who actually *likes* the new branding?

bugger it, I feel lonely...

I think so Craig. I think so...

I like it
