"UK cases levelling off" - having mainly been rising again since early July. The recorded quantity of new cases is about the same as late March when the lockdown was ordered, but the rate of increase is fortunately a lot flatter than then. The question is how much longer will it be acceptable for this rate of increase to continue before needing more interventions.

Yes, in answer to your difficult question.

But I think that this is a bit of a self-selecting group - it seems to me that we're more likely to be male, of a certain age, in the London area, (mainly) literate, minded to comment.

It seems to me that there's a fair bit of wet finger in the air to see which way the wind's blowing about all these numbers. At least we can have a modicum of trust in these, at least we get some at all.
