12 = number of train companies operating internal services in London (ie shown on the London Connections map)

There are 13 proper London rail termini, or 14 if you count Moorgate.

Shame the Gas Museum moved away from Twelvetrees Crescent, but there is still a stop on the 323 Route with that name. Is this the only LT bus which runs on a private road?

Mmm the A12. Quite possibly the most horrible road that I've been on, and use on a semi regular basis.

I'm sure you've already got it on your list for tomorrow - the A13. Not that it's really anything to be proud or excited about that the sole purpose of the A13 is to connect East London to Essex.

Ugh. I need to move from Essex, it's obviously getting to me.

Felix,

To answer your question it depends what you mean by a private road. If you just mean not the public highway then it is quite common. Apart from at bus stations and railway forecourts buses often go into hospital grounds and I suspect that some of the roads around Heathrow are BAA owned.

Near here we even have a bus (route 80) that terminates in the grounds of a prison.

Tomorrow you could enliven the road number bit by throwing in a link to Billy Bragg's A13 - Trunk Road To The Sea. "It starts down in Wapping
There ain't no stopping
By-pass Barking and straight through Dagenham..."

St. Paul's cathedral has twelve bells.

Felix/Pedantic of Purley:
Isn't Canary Warf private, too? I seem to recall DG covering a new bus route through not that long ago.
