please empty your brain below

And a Happy Friday to you too Mr Geezer.

Nice idea though.
Wouldn't this be small enough to fall outside the Sunday trading restrictions?
Today is a day to believe nothing, and trust nobody.

Just like every other day ...
Ha ha ha,DG! Pinch, punch, first of That month! On the other hand, these days I wouldn't be at all surprised at someone coming up with that idea. 👏👏👏

You forgot the bungee-jumping down the lift shafts at Aldwych.
I'm looking forward to the 31st June, ha ha.
You'd be a fool not to shop at this fantastic retail outlet.
excellent effort for this particular first of the month... :)
Nicely done, I particularly enjoyed 'disbenefit'.
It has to be a Waitrose, as befits the area.

I presume that future commercial outlets will follow the local demographic. Aldi in Highgate sidings and Poundstretcher at part of Morden depot !
"Best-loved retailer" gave it away immediately. DG endorsing a brand? Never.
According to the press release I saw, trains won't be stopping here as a matter of course as it will be a request stop. Is that still the plan?
Presumably you didn't have space to mention the further ground-breaking scheme to supply the station/store. Rather than adding yet more articulated lorries to the Picadilly area, the store will be supplied by special trips (3 daily) of a repurposed standard-stock tube train dating from 1923, hitherto kept in the museum depot in Acton. Refrigerated, frozen and fruit-and-veg compartments are being installed now under a special contract.
arrgghhhh. well done DG
Mark my words, this is attempted theft of my IP by TfL. Will be working all night on legal case before filing in court…
It must be a spoof item,
there is no 31st June.
petras409 - You missed the bit at the end that notes, amongst other outlets, a Toby Carvery will be opening at North Weald.
Good try !
Heard rumours that in phase II you won't even have to leave the train: Place your order of 10 items or less using the train's intercom before reaching Hammersmith (eastbound) or Holborn (westbound), and you'll get your bag of groceries delivered to the platform edge. Just make sure not to move inside the carriage once you've ordered.
This is a real station...cough...cough and it isn't a particular day...cough...cough.
Excellent stuff. Little map with oyster bar too.
It is very much a real, albeit disused, station.
Has got to be the best Lirpa Loof I have seen today. So much detail.
This seems more viable than the suggestions in TfL's brochure for a Lift Shaft wine bar and restaurant....
The three links in the first 'Notes for Editors' are all very much genuine.
Blimey. The full colour brochure is genuine?

The illustrations in there are more far fetched that yours.
Hahahahaha! Brilliant!
Love being able to pay for your groceries by Oyster or contactless, and having to touch in and out of the shop!!
Priceless! :D
Christ, Ajit Chambers is dense.
Oh dear.

Oh dear indeed.

Doesn't Ajit Chambers realise that TfL by law has to provide a competitive bidding process, and can't just hand over a business idea to whomever they wish?
This may be an April fools' day item now, but give it time...
Well said, Rachel Holdsworth.

We all look forward to developments on this side-story.
Unexpected outcome of today's post...

Waitrose's Chief Executive Officer has rung an incandescent London businessman, who has apologised for his outburst.
What intellectual property is he claiming? Re-using old tunnels has been going on at least since the Brunel Tunnel was converted from pedestrian to rail use in the 1880s, so it's hardly a new idea?
That's a great post; but at first I thought that the 'full-colour brochure' was part of the fooling, as it is very much in the spirit of DG/TFL promo-speak. Only to realise that it really IS a TFL page. How awful. Ah, then, I wondered: is DG working on a contract for TFL and signing himself as 'Brolly'? After all, there's always a Brolly on the Tube somewhere, and maybe he produces brochures for the Lost Property Office. I think this must be a possibility. Oh dear, that probably means that DG's London posts are really all TFL contract products. They might at least be to help young Londoners in their East London studies, perhaps even a PhD on 'Bus-stop migration patterns during cyclic path construction.'. Thanks for the entertainment, and definitely for the bun.
I note that Ajit Chambers' Homepage link is oldunderground.con (not com)
For once I do hope there's a June 31st 2016. And I might be paying thousands of pounds just to have a teleporter for a visit myself.
I'm a few days late but this is still brilliant.
And I'm several years late but, oh, Ajit...
Likewise, but I'm wondering if maybe Ajit got the spoof and garnered all this extra publicity out of it?
