What's the difference between the l underground journey and the line? Can't you go from West Ruislip to Epping?
Ian, Perhaps this is DG being careful about the word London ie West Ruislip to Epping takes you over the boundary of Greater London, whereas Uxbridge to Cockfosters is all within London Boroughs. Likewise, the '15 miles' of M25 is the longest section of the M25 within the boundary.
I do like the longest wet period. June 1903 may well have been like June 2019. I suppose it shows that wet Junes are not unknown.
From a typographic point of view, Knightsbridge has two 'i's, making Woodmansterne the longest one-word station name.
Some trivial information, "Les Miserables" has been running in London since 1985 but has not had an uninterrupted run at the same theatre.
"The Phantom of the Opera" which opened a year after "Les Miserables" has been continuously performed at one venue, Her Majesty's Theatre.
"The Moustrap" has also moved theatres in the course of it very long run.
I suppose that depends how you view 'pedantically' DG. London's longest canal is indeed the Grand Union (ex. Grand Junction) but, as it has two capital start points, Paddington Basin as well as Brentford, its London mileage is considerably longer.

(I believe the Regent's Canal was absorbed into the Grand Union company on the latter's formation but, as it has both a distinct origin and retains a separate common identity to this day, I'm not including it. So yes, pedantic as well as factual!)
London's longest driverless tube journey: Archway to Warren Street.
How long's the Old Kent Road then?

dg writes: Google it.
According to www.londonbusroutes.net, the route of the N199 is 1 km longer than the N89.

dg writes: I've checked the tender documents, and the N199 is indeed about 250m longer. Updated, thanks.
My 1950s Guinness Book of Records gave East Finchley to Morden (at that time the longest tunnel in the world) as 17 3/4 miles.
what is the longest non-stop national rail journey in London? I imagine Waterloo<>Surbiton but I don't know for sure.
I suspect the longest non-stop National Rail journey within London is aboard the Heathrow Express (14½ miles). Added, thanks.
@wolf Marylebone to West Ruislip is about a mile longer.
@DG d'oh, didn't think of that one!
Interesting mix of metric and imperial measurements.
London's longest running blog?
"London's longest motorway - M25 (approx 15 miles)"
I think you missed a 1 here dg. Wikipedia reckons the M25 is approx 115 miles.

Maybe add another London's longest secret count too ;)
Longest postcode? Croydon's is CR, not CRO.
Malcolm: That was actually Highgate to Warren Street.
It's questionable whether Brentford Ait is one island or two. At anything other than low tide it's two islands, separated by a narrow gap called Hog Hole. If Brentford Ait is regarded as two islands, London's longest island would probably be Isleworth Ait or Eel Pie Island – I haven't checked which of them is longer.
Marylebone to West Ruislip isnt the longest its 13.47 miles (via the Northolt loop) whilst Heathrow Central is 14.36 miles.
The Mousetrap begets another longest: at the beginning of the play the radio announcer is Deryck Guyler, making him the longest-serving actor in London. Posthumously, but still.
Local lad, DG is referring to postcode CR0 ( the figure zero ) which covers the New Addington area of Croydon.
Sorry to ask, which area for longest street for Green Lane? I take that is it in South London?

dg writes: It's not called Green Lane and it's not in South London.
E3-rep: Only 15 miles of the M25 is in London. But that's still more than the M1, M4 and M11 have in London.
My guess is the longest National Rail journey that a passenger could take without changing train would be Mill Hill Broadway and back via the Sutton loop.
Funnily enough about 30 years ago I actually did most of this. I was crashed out finishing work before Easter, then a quick visit to the local hostelry, and went from Blackfriars to somewhere en route to Luton, having slept thoughtout, my intended stop - Wimbledon Chase - never again...
I have been to Straightsmouth. I thought it very funny to take a photo there.
Out of interest then, what is the length of the Central Line within Greater London, i.e. from West Ruislip to Woodford Junction where it crosses the boundary into Essex? Looks to be about 7 miles shorter than the whole W. Ruislip - Epping distance.
I think DG has missed something more local to him with London's longest island.
The island with the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is 1.08km (according to Google Maps).
@ richard: In that postcode the Os and the 0s are getting confused. CR0 runs from Central Croydon to New Addington. After that the numbers run up as far as CR8, for Kenley.
London's longest escalator - Heathrow Terminal 5; how long is it?
