You’ve combined your ongoing love affair with Bus Stop M with your flair for parody - love it!
Just wonderful!
see you there! I am on my way!
Do you know that all the links are broken? I thought you'd be the type of person who would check these things before posting. Gutted.
Not a wonderful day for me. My wife insists we go shopping and be there when the doors open at 9:00am. It is to the retail park in Collier's Wood, oh, and then repeat by the Purley Way tomorrow. The Easter Holidays can't end soon enough.

I was going to moan that neither place has a café with outdoor seating, however that point is now moot as I have just discovered a layer of snow outside and it is coming down thick and fast. Unfortunately I have all season tyres on my car so can't talk myself out of it.
Sounds heavenly. Sadly, too far from where I live.
Is the discarded hubcap in the cycleway a visual metaphor for those left behind during the pandemic, the ongoing battle between two and four wheels, or a temporary memorial to the DoE, maybe?
In reality, there are a number of telephone box cafes dotted round London, some close to bus stops.

The nearest to me is in Hampstead, just down the hill from the tube station and bus stop.

These use/rent redundant red phone boxes (the ones that haven't been sneakily converted to digital advertising with the sop of a free speakerphone/WiFi/email screen)
Just lovely.
Looking forward to meeting up with Andrew Bowden and chewing the fat over local government reorganisation.
Hmmm, is this a coded Flashmob?
There I was, reading the opening lines, and looking forward to seeing the photo of bus stop M complete with small table and two folding seats. You do wonder, that if you did set up a small cafe-style seating area (well, small table and two folding seats), how long it would be until someone came along to encourage you to move? Would it be TfL (prompted by a radio call from a bus driver), would it be the forces of law and order, would it be passengers unhappy that in waiting for a bus they didn't have time to partake of refreshment, or would it simply be Mrs Miggins from round the corner, with nothing better to do? To misquote 'Annie', the cafe will come up, tomorrow!
Careful DG, you'll be giving TFL ideas on how to reduce the massive debt
Excellent.
In Harrow they have installed picnic tables and awnings in various High Street locations in preparation for the hordes thronging to the shops today!

The main road outside however seems quieter than of late - either because everyone has decided to stay home because the world and his wife will be in the shops today - or, more likely, they're already there, queuing to get in!
Brilliant post. I tried all the links just in case ...
Thanks again DG
I'm disappointed Bus Stop M hasn't become a Phil the Greek shrine.
I assume there are no concrete bus-stop posts left in London to have a pop-up café attached to them. That would be the icing on the coffee-flavoured cake.
Great idea, is there a reward card for regular readers of your page?

Say 10% off an apple pie for everyone who's read every page since the 3rd lockdown started, it would be a way of rewarding your loyal customers.
Bow’s a bit off my patch unfortunately, but as the Goblin’s just down the road I’ll be heading for a cocktail at Gospel Oak asap. Just need to persuade the existing kiosk on platform 3 to open at times when people might want to use it.
Fantastic post
I think DG is looking to get a job in PR. This is better than any of the tosh I've seen written about similar venues and genuinely made me want to visit, even if I take the discount version and get my own McDonald's to come and sit in Bus Stop M.

Also, speaking of Custom House crossrail station - I read today it was formally handed over to MTR Crossrail overnight...
Update from the trenches. Having queued for a good 10 minutes to get into the main store, I was horrified to then find the checkout queue stretching into the distance. I quickly located my wife and told her to join me in said queue when she had 'finished'. One and a quarter hours later we reached the tills. There were around 200 shoppers in the queue. We exited the car park with two minutes remaining, absolute madness. And, she wants to do it all again tomorrow.

We did then go to Merton Abbey Mills via one supermarket for a lovely coffee in the sun (after takeaway chicken and wedges for lunch in the car). And now I'm in the checkout queue at a second supermarket. Over and out.
Mt Geezer, I have an advertising line for you.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There is no charge for this.
I’m there now.
Where’s my Becks?
I'll have an order of 3rd wave please
caulkhead - The last two concrete bus stops in Newham and Tower Hamlets were about 2010. Commercial Rd eastbound jw New Rd, end of zone 1, and Silvertown station westbound Albert Road (abandoned behind the railway fence). Not sure about other Boroughs.
A little late reading this but here is my comment- 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍🏻👍🏻
