Our best this year was the Lansbury Lawrence School on Sunday morning which could - as of course could others - fit your description of your mystery property. Much enlivened by the presence of a man who was a pupil there in the early 1960s.A close second was the UCL Pearl building in Dagenham which was properly inspiring and so engagingly explained by the post-grad showing us round.
I certainly agree with one of your top visits as I work in that building (not the one you went to in 2021)
2008: I visited the Hoover Building sometime before when it was the HQ for the tobacco company Gallaher Group. It was nicotine walls, a nasty smell, and fags available in every room. As most offices had gone smoke-free before 2007 it was a surprise.

2013: Beckton Sewage Works - our visit came just after the annual shut-down for maintenance (it's probably always done in August) by which time the sewage had been stored and was considered 'especially ripe' according to the guide. Several people - making gagging motions - had to leave the main pressing room but I'm not sure what they were really expecting. Roses?
We enjoyed Beckton Sewage Works one year on our wedding anniversary. Slight confusion when seeing the "Cake Room".
You got me there, for a second I thought you had worked at Broadcasting House!
You have got a bit confused with your links and dates DG. You visited Balfron in 2006 and 2014, and Trellick in 2012.

dg writes: updated, thanks.
Also my thanks to a reader for pointing out a bad historical error in an 18 year-old post.
Thanks for the POSK tip - am going there for the tour this Sunday!
