Did you hear the interesting programme on security at the games yesterday lunchtime on R4?

The National Anthems probably play from a hard disk or digital media, I doubt if there're on tape.
I'm attending the Olympic stadium tonight to watch a rehearsal of the opening ceremony, so the extra staff you mentioned on the stations may be needed if there are large crowds for this event.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Olympic park from the inside,I might even go in McDonalds! (of course with my Visa card!)
That bike rack's quite clever. As long as they're stable enough to stay upright anyway!
Even I, the most 'disinterested in sports' person ever, am starting to get excited now!
Dare I risk a cross town trip to get some photos before the crowds arrive?
Our eldest is one of the hi-vis extras at Woolwich Arsenal next weekend.....she has many fine points but a sense of direction is not one of them. D'oh!
I have been playing a (perhaps cruel) game with the surplus DLR staff, involving asking them how to get to some obscure station on the network and seeing how they respond.

To my delight, most of them give a very quick and accurate answer - which tells me they have been trained well.
Oh, and additionally - 40,000 people are expected to watch a cremeony rehearsal tonight, and a practically full crowd on Wednesday night.
Great info-packed post!

Those cycle racks don't look very secure - wouldn't trust my bike not to get nicked.
The cycle racks may be a bit basic, but they're inside a secure supervised perimeter, so there's no chance of bikes getting nicked.
Thanks for these pictures and all the coverage of the build-up. As an exiled Londoner who is going to be six thousand miles away and is starting to feel terribly homesick it's great to read what the man on the street thinks about the games and not the usual biased stuff in the newspapers.
Am still half-expecting you to announce in the next couple of days, though, that you have sub-let your flat for some ridiculous amount of money and will be spending the next two weeks blogging from some remote island instead.
THE DLR ambassadors are like all the volunters unpaid, although they will receive some 'high street' vouchers if they turn up for all their scheduled shifts.
Incredibly dull pedantry I know, but it won't be the Royal Phil bringing tears to the eyes of those athletes, rather the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Similar name but totally different bands.
