Most of the front of that chippy (the grey tiling and the lettering) look original - so no mention of fried chicken.

Looking on flickr Alans/Alan is written in at least three different lettering styles.
Glad I got here while there were still 6
I'm not convinced that is Cooper Black on the Archibald Street sign. Compare the C and the H in particular. Cooper Black also appears to have subtly more rounded serifs than those on the sign (particularly noticeable on the letter I).

Of course it may just be some alternative version of Cooper Black I've not heard of.
On the trucks, my brain always perceives Eddies to Bart .com
I think the typeface on the Archibald Street sign is Goudy Extra Bold.

dg writes: Agreed, thanks.

And I'm voting with Christopher Tuft.
Have we got to vote for the one we want executed?
Love the van sign, these are always funny.
Two others I’ve seen in pictures are ‘Danny Boy Plumbing Company - The pipes, the pipes are calling’ and ‘Singh Brothers Builders - You’ve had the cowboys, now try the Indians’.
As my post above there are not unintended like husseyswapping but as with some fish & chip shops or hairdressers names when they are funny they can be very funny.
It amuses me anyway!
Please don’t delete any item, DG. They are all interesting in their own way. Let the future puzzle it out, just as with your 20 Things.
The Bear memorial is a timely reminder that in the mid-19th century, even without a global pandemic to negotiate, to live beyond childhood was still a matter of good fortune.
There are painted stones, in the form of a snake, appearing in a few places. @Viral_Archive has some photos.
I like how this sequence relates to the view
The sheer lack of glamour in Alan's Fish & Chips is intoxicating.
I don't know which "Hussey" thought that was a suitable typeface for advertising their shops 🤨
Those Snoozeboxes remind me of "Containerville" on the Regent's Canal near Cambridge Heath Road!
The quirks of the typeface on that street sign are gorgeous. You can see the large width of the capital 'R' alongside the much narrower capital 'C' in "ARCHIBALD" — very distinctive!
Years ago there was a laundrette on Stroud Green Road called Swiss Wash
I’ve always wondered how to pronounce Cubitt Town. Is it as in “cube” or as in “cub”?
I suppose we should be lucky it's not Alans Fish & Chip's
Dimson Crescent has an identical sign. They were put up by the developers. see here:

Frank - totally agree with you. I always find gravyards so hauntingly sad and that tombstone just sums it all up.
That hotel looks more like a prison.
You wouldn;t catch me staying there.
The painted pebbles are a trendy thing in some circles. They are there for you to take and then either keep or re-hide for others to find. Most have a web address for you to say where you found it, so the creator (and other finders along the way) can follow its progress.
Totting up the comments each photo has received:

Photo 2: 2
Photo 3: 2
Photo 4: 4
Photo 5: 3
Photo 6: 3

As there's a tie for last place, I am currently unable to decide which is the least interesting and should be deleted.
I wonder how many Bears you could fit in a Snoozebox hotel?
If I were to comment and say that were you to delete photo 2 it would be an injustice to the memory of the little Bears - for example - would that be helpful?
Why not just change 'five' to 'six' in the second line?

Or are you just being sixist?
