Of all the early stations listed I think Deptford is possibly the only extant station with the combination of being on its original site, with the same number of tracks, and with a structure that DG's Victorian Cousin might recognise.

When passengers used Heighington on the the S&D there wasn’t a second station; they would just have to step up from, or step down to, the ground when not at Heighington, so yes, i think you can have a scenario where you have just one oldest station!

The Wandsworth station mentioned was where the LSWR line to Wimbledon passes the northern end of Wandsworth Common. It was renamed Clapham Common (strangely, as it is nowhere near Clapham Common!) in 1846 when the more centrally located Wandsworth Town opened on the Richmond line.
It closed (or, arguably, was relocated) in 1863 when Clapham Junction opened 100 yards or so nearer London. |

Even fuller history (sadly out of print but still available).
I am amazed they haven't straightened out the track and moved the access point to the side. Maybe there is a listing or structural reason that prevents this. |

Good to see Deptford station getting some credit. Yes it’s a bit twee these days, but Deptford High St. is not! Try the Dog & Bell afterwards.

1840: Northumberland Park station originally opened as Marsh Lane, and eventually gained its current name in 1923 when the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) took control.

I'm amazed at all those early stations in, what would have been at the time, countryside fields!!
Passed through several stations today - lots of birthday announcements, but no sign of any cake or party hats! Bah! |

At first reading there were "...locked doorways leading to unseen voids, and 1 entirely lost track...". I would have loved to learn more about that one.
