Your tale of 26 minutes being taken for a timetabled 7 minute journey and your abortive effort to change to an earlier departing train at Edgware Road gave me a good chuckle over breakfast this morning!. I also travelled through Edgware Road yesterday afternoon, from Gt. Portland St. to Hammersmith, at Hammersmith I intended to change for a Richmond bound District line train. No problems or delays getting to Hammersmith, but once on the Hammersmith District/Piccadilly line platform greeted with an announcement that the District Line to Richmond service was suspended due to a broken down train. They suggested using local buses. All part of the fun, as long as you don't have appointments to meet and feel OK, of travelling! |
Well. If any posting showed why we should have the Circle line run as an end-to-end service so that that passengers had a more reliable journey then this is it. |
In this case, the delay was down to a lack of drivers. I'm not sure that a new service pattern can improve that. On the contrary, a driverless train in Edgware Road's only eastbound platform might bugger up the system something rotten. |
The plan is that all clockwise Circle Line trains will terminate at platform 2, with a cross-platform interchange for Baker Street etc. on platform 1. Wimbleware trains will terminate at platform 3. That's the plan, anyway! Incidentally, platform 4 is the only *non-eastbound* platform. |
