UK may be luckier than many. China is on the verge of collapse now that Trump helped the West to learn that the Chinese totalitarian government can never be trusted, and many countries have started to follow suit and stand up to the Chinese.

Just when you think it cannot get any more farcical, shipping contracts are awarded to a company with no boats, nor any experience of running such a service. A cliché, but that's pure Python. Regardless, Happy 2019 to all and sundry.

Happy new year everyone. Loads of fireworks accompanied by inspirational messages ("London is open", "All you need is love") is unlikely to move the narrative of impending disaster very far. Hold on to your hats: it May get much worse.

In terms of political earthquakes 1979 = 2019?, Happy New Year everyone, and enjoy the parliamentary fireworks in January.

There have been many metaphores - and whether it be fireworks or damp squib, I don't see any neatly popular resolution to this in 2019 - the one that sums it up for me is:

Ironic that the really stupid outcome, if it happens, will be a direct result of the apparently democratic decision to give parliament a 'meaningful vote'. If it had been left to May, we would have got the long clamber down the cliff face rather than the quick plummet.

Isn't it always doom and gloom? They try to control us with fear but we've finally seen through it. Predictions are rarely correct, Jesus still hasn't returned and the Remainers will have to find something else to fret about.

I am so concerned about the disaster that is headed our way that I can't bring myself to even consider 2019 being "happy" in any respect. Certainly haven't wished anyone a "Happy New Year" because it's just not true.
If we've escaped a monumental economic collapse coupled with the likely social unrest by 31 Dec 2019 I'll be amazed. Sorry for the gloom but that's how I feel. |
