I lived on Holly St for 4 years until 3 years ago when I bought my house
Blimey!
Great payoff line!
Well played, and seasons greetings to you DG 🎄
I see your Holly Street Estate and raise you Sheffield's Kelvin Flats (1965-1996)
B***** **ll!!!!!
I spent many a Sunday morning selling community newspapers on the Holly Street Estate between 1975 and 1983. The low rise blocks shown in the "snake" picture had long intersecting internal corridors. The bedroom levels in alternate flats varied between up and down from the front door, so you might hear the footsteps coming up to open the front door. What I chiefly remember is the warmth and smell of the corridors as heat and cooking smells escaped from the flats. They must have been very depressing places to live.
I agree with FrankF above -- great final sentence! Happy Christmas.
Happy Christmas DG and to all commenters.
Without any strong, expressive urban gestures.
What Frank F said. Lol stuff, thank you.
Blimey, I've seen prettier looking prisoner of war camps!!

Regarding the link on the word 'rebuilt' I have to question 'map of hostox?!
Please don't tell me Hostox is what they're now calling Hoxton? My Nan would turn in her grave!
The family center/house reminds me of Janet Street Porter's old house.

I first read about it recently, I assume on this very blog.
