Ref austere discomfort - should the link point to a Class 153 or 156 rather than a Class 15? That WOULD be uncomfortable!

Mention of the Gainsborough line always confuses me, as I assume it means the one serving (if that's the right word in the circumstances) the Lincolnshire town of that name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gainsborough_Central_railway_station which has a service of six trains a week - all on Saturdays!

Thanks DG, you've just brought a recent visit to Sudbury back to mind. We caught the train to Bures and walked along the Stour Valley Path. It was a sunny late-winter's afternoon and the walk across the river meadow to the Mill Hotel, where we stayed) will live long in the memory. To do the same walk today would require waders at the very least...

I remember when that line was known as The Lovejoy Line. Thank goodness they've dropped that name!

Ah, Sudbury, the site of my first post-legal-drinking-age New Years Eve, damm sight better quality of pubs than the suburban choice I would have had if i'd stayed in my home town that year!

You should return for the Chappel beer festival at the start of September ( http://chappelbeerfestival.org.uk/ ). That is probably the one time that the trains are packed!
