Cable car - I'll heartily support this provided Boris keeps his promise of naming it after the Business Secretary: the Vince Cable Cable Car

Marathon - Nice try, but I don't think it's going to get Tower Hamlets anything but a large legal bill.

Bike hire - I like this, because it's apparently going to edge even nearer to my house. Which will give me a nice new cheap way to get to or from town.

Borismaster - I still think it's a tremendous waste of money. And a bit of an ugly bus too. And have you seen moquette?

Northern line extension - if you build it, they will come. Surely most of the extremities of the underground weren't very useful to many people until they built lots of houses round it?

And today? It's too early for BBC News to have their ticker on the go...

I would have thought that as the railway tracks going into Victoria station already pass right by the side of the Battersea power station site, it would be simple to put a station there and avoid the cost of building a tube line.

The new bus is a waste of money, I guess as its public money i.e. yours and mine, that does not matter to Boris.

The cable car looks fun and will probably be popular. Pity it is not extended along the riverside to Southbank and the London eye. I think NYC has a large cable car connecting Roosevelt Island with Manhattan Island.

I wish the bicycle hire scheme was extended to all London Boroughs.

Tower Hamlets will waste more public money and keep lawyers in work.

Perhaps you will find a chinese pot in your attic this weekend?

I for one would love a cable car over the Thames, NYC has one from Manhattan to Roosevelt island. I know that it's a tourist thing, but whenever I'm in the UK I am a tourist.:-)

Don't hold your breath, Greg.

I think they are saying the cable will work on Oyster at £2.50 a go.

Cable car over the thems would be a great idea. Good for tourism too. The wheel (the London eye in Dublin) is €12 a go which is a bit excessive.

Cable car - wouldn't a bridge or a tunnel be more useful? Why a cable car? Just sees like an excuse for something pointless and showy.

Olympics Marathon - ridiculous. Absolutely utterly ridiculous.

Cycle Hire - Gordon Bennett, I mean. Can't someone do something OTHER than for the Olympics these days? Pointless and ridiculous. Would be better extending it south of the river where the public transport set up would make it more useful.

New bus - if Boris is counting on this expensive travesty to get re-elected things might not go to plan. At the last election, quite a few surveys found that actually bendy bus replacement and this insane idea that you can create a new icon (hint - you don't create icons, they BECOME icons) was completely a minority issue. Next election we'll be seriously into the age of austerity. More and more people will be wondering why we want a bespoke bus that has even fewer seats on it.

Northern Line - hurray! The end of direct trains from Morden via Charing Cross just to please a developer! Whoopee! The suggestion above of extending to Clapham Junction would make more sense. Although the trains would probably be rammed before they got to Battersea (hmm, divine justice...)

While Battersea is indeed surrounded by railway lines, a new station is a big no-no. With them all being high up on viaducts there's no room on the appropriate lines to build platforms, and would be a waste of capacity anyway. Extending the Northern, indeed any tube line to Clapham Jct would also be a HUGE no-no; trains would run at capacity from the outset, making it impossible to get on between there and central london.
