Thankyou for an exceptionally interesting post.

I've just finished a set of walks of the Lea Valley and The Line but not sure those new art works were up then - will have to return! First post up here.
I was heading up the Lea and got stuck just before Cody Dock where that brightly covered bridge meets the walkway to the left. Google maps suggested there was a path all the way but it turned out had to go round a fence and then through a builders yard. Hopefully it will connect up better in the future. |
Compelling post and careful photos. Star Lane work is well weird .. reminds me of Biba. I've walked/cycled this trail a few times now and it always seems different due to the changing seasons, weather and height of the water in the tidal section of the Lea. I hardly recognized the location of your second Cody Dock photo. Thanks. |
Never trust Google Maps to show you public rights of way.

Again a wonderful post about a subject I never had heard of, but which has now been filed away for future reference.

"When footpaths go badly wrong" and "UK's grimmest industrial estate detours" are good ideas for TV documentaries.

Read an article about her in the Guardian recently, a fascinating woman and very prolific artist. Her faces are wonderful. Agreeing with the other Eric, very Biba 60s

The wooden robot reminds me of the Dire Straits Money For Nothing video.

There was a small exhibition of her work at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow in 2019 which my partner and I stumbled upon by accident... I'm E17 born and bred but had never heard of Madge. The paintings and prints in particular were stunning and it's a shame the display wasn't bigger
