Blimey! See what you mean about the map. Looks as if it's got a really nasty case of measles.

Its almost as though someone at TfL reads all our complaints, then resolves to do something, and makes a complete hash about it in the process.

Could be worse, Morden to Oval technically could be daggered too, no through service to West End at some times of day.

Still thinking of a spoof tube map in which every station has a dagger but for spurious reasons. E.g. "Chalk Farm: No known agricultural activity here" "Wimbledon: Do not alight here for Tennis"

And what's more, the currently-closed bits of the North London Line don't have daggers. They're not even consistent with their clutter!

Dagger clutter is the perfect accompaniment to announcement overload...

I hope the police take away these daggers, as they could be used in knife crime. :)

Could another way of showing stations with disabled access be shown. Something like underlining the station name would be much, much better as you then once again be able to spot interchanges and "halt" stations.

I actually quite like the new list of things to correspond to the dagger...

But do agree that they are slightly OTT.

For example, from Rayners Lane to Uxbridge, could it not show a dashed blue line implying that there's not a full service?

DO the new tube maps have a new cover design? Has anyone seen poster versions of them??

Max... make a spoof map at your peril! TFL will get their lawyers onto you...

And the main question I want to ask TFL is .. One day, let's assume that you've installed lifts at every station and so EVERY station is wheelchair accessable. Then surely, you won't need to make every station with a wheelchair blob, right? So, as we work towards that can we assume that at 50% of the way there, it will be more efficient to start marking the map with a symbol that indicates that a station ISN'T wheelchair accessable?

From the TFL website:

NEW LONDON OVERGROUND SERVICE: The former East London line has now reopened, with a special service between 0700 and 2000 on Monday to Friday between Dalston Junction and New Cross/New Cross Gate. Trains will not operate on Saturday and Sunday until Saturday 15 May, however, there will be a service between 0700 and 2000 on Bank Holiday Monday 3 May. DG, I know why you are using yellow to write about the the ELL, but it is so hard to read. I just bought a new 27" screen iMac and it is no better. Sorry to whinge, but if you must go on like this, can't you put a dark box around the text?

it's not yellow. yellow is circle line, he's using the correct HTML code for Overground Orange!

I haven't been paying close attention to the map since I haven't been over to London in a couple of years, so forgive me if this is territory that has been previously covered:

Did the official map always refer to the DLR station as "Custom House for ExCeL" rather than simply "Custom House"? It would appear not; some previous versions that I find using Google Image Search just say "Custom House", and there are versions (from 2007, if I'm reading the very small copyright notice correctly) that say "for ExCeL" in smaller print than "Custom House", but this one is the first one I've noticed that has "Custom House for ExCeL" all in a consistently-sized typeface.

There are no new paper tube maps.

At Dalston Junction, the only tube maps you can pick up don't have Dalston Junction on.

Re the orange print, I find that all I have to do is define it and it comes up in a nice bright blue - very easy to read.

Very nice set of photos. Not that I ever go to East London, but I might one day!

Daggerisation.

Not something I ever thought I would read about.

Told you they'd reopen it just after the London Marathon! Not of course that it would have been open on Marathon day - being a Sunday - that would have been far too helpful.

If those tube maps go into the shredder, they'll be worth even more later. Trust you have secured your copy.

Thanks, Auntie!
