Like the timestamp! Of course, it still won't work here (O2 black hole). Shame, otherwise I would have got one too. 'Course I would, its the obvious successor to my steam driven Nokia that doesn't EVEN have a colour screen.

Oh, and there's a strange London quiz on my blog today for anyone that fancies an odd challenge.

You're being sarcastic, aren't you?

What happened to the phone that worked underground and in the future? You broke it already?

what? you can even make phone calls with it? that's so matrix-like.

wow.

Even the Gadget Show thought it was crap.

spot on..

Apple's genius is in the marketing rather than the technology. They frankly admit what other companies feel uncomfortable with: communicaions technology is about supplying men (mostly) with toys.

Sorry DG, but I really don't want to know what you end up poking with your 'Magic Finger'.

Oh, and the iPhone? Well, you've got to admire Apple for being able to get away with crap like this without falling foul of anti-competition laws, but I'd never buy something from them.

LOL

'iIconic'

Excellent dg, just excellent.

Phew - and there was me thinking I must be the only person who thinks Apple produce over-hyped crap.

Well I'm going down there today, ostensibly to hold the camera of the feature writer from MacUser magazine (my best mate) who is going to be interviewing people in the queue - the manager has one set aside for him in the store when we get in there - they had to hand back the review model they had...

A 2mp camera and no 3G is a real let-down though - although the interface is wonderful the technical gubbins are already old technology :

Brilliant. I must admit to being completely underwhelmed by the whole iPhone thing. I'm a (happy) Vodafone customer and have just picked up a Nokia N81. Sweet phone. Techy *and* tasteful.

The iPhone? Too restrictive too expensive.. not for me...

Soon, We willn't use the IPHONE! Take care because I will read your mind! LOL

This wonderful post was written by the girl I work with, wasn't it?

You forgot the irony flag, again.

Did anyone else catch John Humphries on the Today programme trying to figure out how it worked? Just occasionally, I wish the radio had pictures ...

and by tomorrow... they'll be so yesterday.

queue outside apple store regent street remarkably unimpressive this morning at 8.30, more press than customers: http://flickr.com/photos/bitful/...ful/1930875467/

wonder what it's like now...

"Apple's genius is in the marketing rather than the technology."

Are you having a laugh! Not the technology? No genius in the iPod? or the iBook? or Leopard/Time Machine? No genius in the single easiest to use interface, No genius in genuine plug and play, No genius in anything other than the marketing?

@ disgruntled commuter: Yes, I heard the whole shameful business. The Today programme was an extended hype for the iphone. Outrageous!

Ho-ho! You had me there, until you mentioned the '2megapixel cutting edge' phone.

You had me until the second omigod

im going back to my favourite phone which is still working!- an old ericsson T39

I love my cheap Virgin pre-paid phone....

I love the fact that I don't have a handphone.

garax - i actually use an imac and an ibook myself but i refer you to this:

cd\\_log\\_entrie...visionism.shtml

gwplf - please don't refer anyone to that. It's an out of date, poorly written whinefest. There are plenty of other ways to berate Apple, but that's not it.

Irony only works if u get your facts right:

"Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) or Enhanced GPRS (EGPRS), is a digital mobile phone technology that allows increased data transmission rates and improved data transmission reliability. Although technically a 3G network technology, it is generally classified as the unofficial standard 2.75G, due to its slower network speed."

:-P

Oh dear. In denigrating the number of pixels in the detector you have made the classic mistake of assuming that the more pixels there are the better the camera. Still, what can you expect from a train spotter?

Cheers,
Fatty
