I'm a big fan of what might be termed forgotten / unloved corners.

The railings and trees hiding the stream in your photo between the streets of semis.....perfect.

Thank you for the always-informative and entertaining blog. :)
I concur - you really had to persevere to finish this one - I think I would have dropped out some way back!
It would be a dreary post if you were not a Completist.
I sensed your frustration but I'm glad it didn't end up as an Un-blogged thing you did in October.
I'm going to be facing a nearby stretch of the A20 as part of a group walking project I'm organising. A lengthy detour also looks likely!
I have walked almost all the stretches south of Halfway Street, but never in one go. I now feel compelled to have a closer look at the wooded bits of Chislehurst Common and some day walk the stretch north of Halfway Street.

I didn't know the name of the stream. Thank you.
I've known the woods between Kemnal Road and the A20 since I was about 13, and I believe a lot of it was ancient woodlands. A fair amount of this was felled for the creation of the cemetery and, as its expansion continues, one particular loss was an oak tree which was truly huge. I'm fairly sure the pond at Brook House was once home to at least one black swan.
As regards the central reservation of the A20 being 'fortified' it'd be amusing to think it was a Bexley / Bromley thing, but unfortunately it followed a pedestrian fatality.
It was good to learn that little egrets can still be seen on the streams around Halfway Street.
