As a current user of the 58 and a former user of the W15, seeing them make the busy lists is no surprise. I also use the 25 and 86, but those being extremely busy is very obvious.

With regards to the 549, a few days ago I was waiting for a 20 at Loughton station during evening peak to go visit for my parents and the 549 departed off towards South Woodford without a single passenger. The potential merger with the W14 will probably lead to a few more users, giving people in the Loughton area a second option for getting to Whipps Cross Hospital.
149 - SOUTH London's busiest route?

dg writes; technically yes.

We are getting a cleaner picture, but still disrupted by train strikes.

B11 lost part of its route in May 2022 and the 414 in November 2021, the 359 was reduced in frequency October 2022.
In case anyone was wondering, like I was, how many riders a tram line might carry, Manchester Metrolink carries 36 million on a 100 km network. Nottingham‘s system transports 14 million and Sheffield about 8 million.

I’d argue there’s a case for converting some of London’s busier routes to tram operation.
It's surprising to me that south London doesn't feature more in the lists of busy and well used routes. It has a far sparser tube network than north of the river and you would imagine that buses would be filling the gap. Maybe south Londoners don't go out so much!
Not sure I would completely agree with your comment on the W7 as it applies to Muswell Hill - Highgate is the nearest tube for most of Muswell Hill and you'd most likely be taking the 43/134 along Muswell Hill Road to get there.
re the W7 - Highgate may be Muswell Hill's closest tube station but Finsbury Park is far more useful in terms of getting places
The 209 change is more about frequency reduction than Hammersmith Bridge given the bridge has been shut since 2019.

After various attempts to sort an acceptable service south of the bridge, in June 2022 the 209 went from every 15 to every 30 minutes with the 378, 419 and 533 taking up the slack

Interestingly, the Hammersmith Bridge closure is being used as an excuse by TfL for upcoming changes as far away as North Cheam and Peckham as the 37 and 93 become less frequent. Alarmingly they say "This temporary timetable will be in place until Hammersmith Bridge reopens to all traffic." That may never happen.
Interesting to see mention of the 346 and 347. I often wondered what happened to them (if indeed they are them). Used to ply a similar route through Watford in the 60's. Many a journey to school on these or their'a' counterparts.

Thanks for the link. Obviously different companies - and colour. Pity the green ones got nobbled though.
C10 might go further up the single decker list next year following it partially replacing the 507.

Same with the 1 on the one-digit list. Surprising thought to me that the 4 is ahead of the 9 and the 7.
I still don't get why the R5 and R10 are treated as separate routes.
Probably some figure fiddling going on.
Other routes aren't separated out into different directions

dg sequentially responds:
a) because it’s important for passengers in Orpington and Knockholt to know which way round the enormous loop they’re going.
b) no ‘figure fiddling’ is going on.
c) yes they are.

4) ↑4 53 Whitehall - Plumstead (1,747,000km)
5) ↑2 86 Stratford - Romford (1,753,000km)

typo in one of the distances or are these the wrong way around?
It wouldn't be Anorak Corner without a typo.
Fixed, thanks.
Will the doubling of service on the X26 - now SL7 - put it in the top 20 most travelled?
Just a tweak : the 53 no longer goes to Whitehall, but terminates, less than usefully, at Lambeth North.
It wouldn’t be Anorak Corner without a cut and paste error.
Tweaked, thanks.
