please empty your brain below

District: Westminster

Bakerloo: Waterloo (and it used to have a wonderfully sonorific voice to do it with, too)

Thanks - I'll add them as we go...

Hounslow East

Embankment (Northern line). Very curvy that one

Victoria on District/Circle has the marvellous male monotone "MIND.. THE.. GAP!...".

Whereas the length of the Piccadilly has the delightfully polite female "Please Mind the Gap between the train and the platform" (Acton Town + loads of others)

Holborn on the Picc Line

Piccadilly Circus - certainly on Bakerloo given the bendy platforms and possibly on the Picc too given those platorms also have kinks in them.

Northern: Angel, I think?

The most famous of all... BAKER STREET Metropolitan Line platforms.

Possiblys and I thinks aren't going in, because I'd like this list to be definitive.

Oh, I'm not claiming to possess definitive information, I thought maybe you had a full list and you were looking for us to guess it. Sorry!

I'm not sure about Nick's suggestion. I've never heard "Mind the gap" at Baker Street met, not an automatic recorded one anyway, unless they have started in the last few months.

Well if it's Totally Tubular Week, and since there's no substitute for original research, I look forward to DG visiting ALL the Underground stations to check the announcements.

Not in the shortest possible time, natch, that's been done - just with the sharpest possible ears.

Bow Road, District. Surprisingly not listed as its your local, but probably the inspiration for this post!

@Mouse A Nony

I remember the MIND THE GAP announcements at Baker Street from as far back as a young boy. That big booming male taped voice still bothers my mind even now.

Think of the through Metropolitan Line platforms, and the very tight curve they have. Those A Stocks are big old lumps, and there are some pretty massive gaps, so it's written on the floor too.

:)

Circus line?

I drive on the Metropolitan Line, and kept a careful ear out for MTG recorded-announcements today.

There really aren't any at Baker Street. The only ones on the Met are at Great Portland Street; at Aldgate there is a MTG recording for Circle Line trains arriving at platform 1 (anticlockwise).

I don't think they actually say it at Russell square but remember that film The Line where the cannibal man only had two sentences - mind the gap and, stand clear of the doors? Actually on writing this it might have been mind the doors...

@Squarewheels

Really? Wow. Then they've stopped it. I haven't been on the Met Line from Baker St for years, but it certainly used to have the announcement.

Who remembers when the platform edge lights used to switch on only as the train approached? Now permanently lit, I doubt anyone even notices them these days.

Sorry, late to the party - I've been travelling out to Loughton recently and they have 'mind the gap' announcements there.
Though the gap is quite small and you'd have to try really hard to step down into it. Perhaps it's the Essex girls in white stilettos that they're worried about.
It's a nice Tube station, Loughton, Grade II listed apparently.

Now it is only at Embankment. Just saying.
